And the Winner is…Throwing an Oscar Viewing Party
It is no secret that we LOVE any excuse for a Party and with the upcoming Oscars this weekend what better theme/reason than to host an Oscars Viewing Party!
Set the tone with your invitations. Be very creative by using a movie reel as the case for the invitation or use something more along the lines of a Movie Ticket.
There are a ton of decor items that you can purchase to use if you truly want to set the scene! Your local party supply store can provide many Oscar themed decor pieces, or if you are crafty then you could make the decor yourself.
Let’s start out with a grand and regal Red Carpet entry for your guests. If you want to make it even more special, write the name of each guest on a Star and affix it to the Red Carpet.
What’s an award viewing party or any Hollywood event without Paparazzi? Why not have your own? From having real photographers taking photos as guests arrive, to using a decor prop of paparazzi and strobe flash lighting – create an entrance that will get your guests in the Star-Mode!
Once your guests enter your “Dolby Theatre” greet them with a special access lanyard {and a glass of champagne}!
Use more props as decor in the areas where you will be serving food and watching the show. One of the fun items that you can incorporate is film…did you know that you can purchase used film as decor or just a prop? Pair the film with movie reels and you have a great scene-setter! Place a few trophies around as well to add to the party theme.
Whether you decide to serve a full-meal or just snacks, the options are endless. If you are feeling so inspired, create a menu that pays homage to the Best Picture honorees, or do your best at replicating Wolfgang Puck’s menu for the Governor’s Ball. Of course his food is always amazing, but I just have to say that his Smoked Salmon Oscar shaped hors d’oeuvres are adorable!! Check out images of his menu by visiting here!
If you are opting for snacks instead of a full meal, then some of my favorite ideas are a popcorn bar, or a candy buffet. Go all out and wow your guests with all sorts of popcorn flavors and toppings or a variety of types of candy for a candy buffet. You can even have a theme for the candy – from a certain color, to retro varieties to typical candy treats you would find at a movie theater. Your guests will devour the fun snacks!
