EXCEPTIONAL FOOD AND WONDERFUL LOCATION

 These phrases describe one of Atlanta’s best restaurants, Morton’s – The Steakhouse ~ Exceptional Food and Wonderful Location! 

 I recently had the privilege of attending a dinner for some of the city’s elite planners, held in one of the private event spaces at Morton’s – Downtown.  The theme of the evening was a Rehearsal Dinner.

In addition to the restaurant, which is located in the SunTrust Plaza, they also have separate special event space (also in the SunTrust Plaza) that can accommodate a small intimate gathering all the way to a large party of 300 or so guests.  One of the attributes that appeal to many clients is the ability to have a space that allows access to the outside.  You have that here.  So for those clients that would like to have cocktails outside or provide a place for perhaps a Cigar Roller – this is perfect.

 One of the entrances to the private events area is through the lobby of the SunTrust building ~ which is also an option for portions of your event.  When you enter the doors, you are in a “reception” area that is perfect for a Guest Book, Escort Cards, etc.  

 Our evening provided the delectable cuisine that Morton’s is known for.  

 As we entered the Main room, we were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres consisting of Roma Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella and Basil on Crostini and Sliced Tenderloin on a Crostini.  Both were delicious and I have to admit, I may have enjoyed more than my share of the Sliced Tenderloin on Crostinis. 

When it was time to take our seats, we were able to select from among the many tables each with a unique floral presentation.  Floral Matters created various bridal bouquets, which were set in round glass vases.  Each of the bouquets was unique and contained different colors, textures and themes.  I thought this was a wonderful idea.  

  

Once seated we were served a Whipped Horseradish Caesar Salad.  Next we were presented with a difficult decision and that was which entrée we would like from the choices of, a single cut filet with Béarnaise Sauce, or Chicken Christopher with a Garlic Beurre Blanc Sauce or Atlantic Salmon.  Each entrée was served with Garlic Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes.  

To finish off the meal, we were served an amazing slice of New York Cheesecake.  Unfortunately, I was so full from the meal that I couldn’t finish my serving (and for that my waistline is pleased).  

 We were also treated to a variety of cupcakes from Highland Bakery.  I tried the Butter Pecan one and was very impressed.  Highland Bakery also provided an adorable version of a Groom’s cake – which is typically served at the Rehearsal Dinner. This was a model of an actual cake that they recently produced for a client.  The groom was a sound tech – so the cake was as a tribute to him. 

 

 Whether you need a space for a Rehearsal dinner, anniversary party, Mitzvah or Wedding Reception ~ one consideration should most definitely be the Private Event space at Morton’s ~ The Steakhouse.  You and your guests will be extremely pleased with the service and the delicious food.

Just Can’t Get Enough….of Gina and Bobby

I happen to think that this adorable couple deserves another post.  The fantastically awesome photographer, Nadia D, shared some of her images with me and since they far exceed my snapshots, I wanted to share them with you so that you can see what a wonderful couple and terrific wedding this really was.  The wedding took place at Evergreen Conference Center at Stone Mountain!

Wonderful Venue to be Considered

This week provided an opportunity for me to attend events at two different venues, and I just had to share some of the delightful finds with you! This post will focus on a Private Golf Club that will allow non-members to have their events there.  

I was part of a very select group of Planners invited to a Summer Luncheon at the East Lake Golf Club!  The club is located 5 miles east of Downtown.  This Club is so full of history and tradition and it was an honor to be invited to the event.  For those of you that are Golf enthusiasts, this place is Mecca.  East Lake Golf Club is where Bobby Jones, the legendary golfer, got his start, and this was also the location of his last tournament.  The grounds are breathtaking.  The club is the permanent home of The TOUR Championship, the culminating event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedEx Cup. 

From the time you enter the main doors, you are welcomed into a tastefully decorated, large open area.  There are several soft seating places in this area along with the Receptionist who provides a kind smile upon your arrival.  To the right of the main room there is a Living Room that typically has more soft seating available – however, this room, complete with a fireplace, can be used for special events.  It would be a fabulous room for a ceremony.  To the back of this room is a smaller room with a wall of windows.  We actually had our luncheon in this room.  If you exit back to the main entry area and then go to the left, you will pass by a case with a stunning crystal trophy that I couldn’t help but stop and look at.  The ballroom would then be straight in front of you.  The colors used throughout the club are very neutral and to me feel calming and exquisite at the same time.  The ballroom also offers views of the course.  The chandeliers are beautiful and there are dark wood features within the room.  One area that I think would be very appealing to brides is the outside terrace.  When you step outside onto the terrace you are surrounded with the beauty of the course.  The terrace is rounded – which makes for a perfect wedding ceremony setting.  The wedding party would descend down a set of steps as they approach the ceremony area – so guests would be treated to amazing views at all times.  If you didn’t want to have your ceremony outside, you could use this terrace for the cocktail hour and I can just imagine during Spring and Fall, you would be hard pressed to find a more lovely setting. 

East Lake Golf Club is home to one of the best chef’s around, Chef Michael Deihl.  His creations for our luncheon were superb.  He has a true passion for creating tasty dishes which area also visually pleasing.  He delights in working with brides to create a custom menu that your guests will be talking about for years to come. 

If you happen to be a die-hard golfer, or you are marrying one, then East Lake Golf Club would fulfill some lifelong dreams.  If you have your event there, you are allowed to play golf at the course.  This is certainly an opportunity that would not be available to those without a membership at the club otherwise.  

 One of the aspects of East Lake Golf Club goes along with their motto:  Golf With a Purpose.  To quote from their website:  

“East Lake Golf Club is the catalyst for the remarkable transformation of the East Lake community.  Our motto, “Golf with a Purpose,” was coined early in the process, after it was realized that golf would be the galvanizing element of the new East Lake community.” 

For those looking for a venue with options for their event, I highly suggest East Lake Golf Club.  Contact me for more details.
