Once Upon a Time…The Fairytale of Jenny & Ben

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:00 am by JBEvents

It was such a magical wedding weekend for Jenny & Ben!  Short back story – they are avid Disney fans and became engaged at Disney World in front of the castle.  Ben works as a writer in the film industry in L.A. and they are both very much into “geeky” things.  The hashtag for the wedding was a nod to one of their favorite trilogy’s, “The Lord of the Rings” as well as a play on the groom’s last name – #FellowshipoftheStrings!

On the morning of the wedding, the ladies had a Disney themed Bridal Brunch.  Musicians welcomed the guests with strains of Disney songs.  Guests were given Mouse Ears as they entered with a special pair of a sparkly Bride ears for the Guest of Honor.  The decor around the room and on the tables was adorable Disney themed items including letters for the Bride’s new last name.

While the ladies were brunching, the guys were lunching.  The guys had their gathering at Paddy’s Pub right onsite.  Good food and laughter (and a beverage or two) was abundant as all the special men in Ben’s life surrounded him on his wedding day.

When the ladies finished their brunch, they retreated to a private room to begin their hair and make-up appointments, provided by Brushworx On Location Hair and Make-up.  These ladies had so much fun and were so relaxed, which is exactly our goal. Of course, they all looked beautiful!

There was one very special addition to the wedding gown.  Sewn into the dress, right where it would rest upon her heart, was a small, heart-shaped portion from the Bride’s favorite baby blankie.  I love details like this!!

Brenda of Brenda Upton Photography was onsite capturing all of the memories of the day.  Brenda had a vision in mind and wanted to make sure not to miss the opportunity of some amazing sunset photos.  She took the couple out through the vineyard, across a field and up a hill to an old tree that provided a view of the sun setting with mountains in the background.  During the trek with the couple her mantra was “follow the light”.  The result was a series of photos that are some of my favorites ever!!! {See photos in collage at bottom}.  Special thanks to Brenda for providing the beautiful images for this post.

The couple shared a First Look in the ceremony area and watching the look on their faces as they saw each other for the first time was magical.

Edge Design Group created the stunning decor.  The Chuppah was dreamy, with soft flowing fabrics and magnificent floral arrangements.  They had a Wine Box unity ceremony.  Personal letters from the bride and groom were placed inside a wooden box with a bottle of their favorite wine.  During the ceremony, they sealed the box and they won’t open it until their 1st Anniversary.

For Guest Registration, there were two antique typewriters available so guests could type a message to the couple.  There was also a custom wood puzzle made which guests would select a piece to sign a note and then place the piece on the display to put the puzzle together.

In keeping with the winery location, the mother hand-made a set of wine charms for each guest.  The charms had beads in the color of the wedding as well as a crab and a peach giving nod to the hometown states the couple’s families are from, Maryland and Georgia.

The ballroom was gorgeous!  Edge Design Group created a romantic and elegant setting.  The tables were draped with lovely champagne satin linens while the sweetheart table had an exquisite beaded overlay on top of the champagne.  The couple’s table was then adorned with a lush floral piece and a variety of candles providing a glowing sparkle. Throughout the rest of the room, there were combination of tall arrangements as well as low arrangements with varying heights of candles creating a romantic glow in the room. Softening the look of the wall behind the band were soft, flowing blush drapery creating a beautiful backdrop.

The cake table had a navy sequin linen that added to the presentation of the dramatic cake – created by a family friend for the couple.

Guests were entertained all evening by the sounds of U.S. Beat with their always amazing performance.

This wedding  was fun from beginning to end and when it was time for the party to end, guests were begging for more.

The couple departed through a ribbon fanfare to begin their new life together.

We wish Jenny & Ben a lifetime of Happiness of their own fairy tale.

Alli & Brett get Handcuffed at their Wedding

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:10 am by JBEvents

As an Event Planner, you are responsible for making sure that everything goes perfectly for your clients, regardless of circumstances that are beyond your control.  This wedding was one of those events where keeping calm was KEY to making sure that the clients were unaware of all that was going behind the scenes and to make sure that the wedding went off as planned!

Let me give you a little background of the wedding day!  The wedding was held on Saturday of Gay Pride Weekend in Atlanta at the main host hotel for the viewing of the parade.  Ahead of the day, we were given a map of the slated road closures.  I made sure to provide the map as well as road closure timing to all vendors involved.  Unfortunately, the map provided was not accurate and additional roads were closed at times ahead of the previously provided scheduled times.  This of course resulted in difficulty for vendors (and even my team) to get to the Hotel timely.  Not to mention, the loading dock is located on a street that is closed for the parade! Situations from one vendor being threatened to be arrested, to two others receiving traffic citations were just a part of the day.  Of course, guests had difficulty getting to the venue as well.

What is important to note is that even with all of the issues of the day, every vendor pulled together to do whatever was necessary to create the perfect wedding for the couple.

The bride had a wonderful time getting out in the parade crowd.  Many of the parade-goers stopped her for a photo-op.  We also ran into a motorcycle officer that allowed the bride to pose with his bike.

The groom, is an Atlanta Police Officer with a great sense of humor so we were able to play around with the whole “law enforcement officer” theme,  The groom’s cake was Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.  The favors were chocolate hand-cuffs. At the end of the ceremony, the couple were hand-cuffed together as a fun surprise for all in attendance. The cake topper was a Police Officer holding his bride.  The table names were of police themed television shows and movies.  The bride is very crafty and created the signs herself.

IMG_2370

I absolutely loved being able to incorporate the things most special to this couple to create a truly unique wedding.  That’s what it is all about!!!

One of the special attributes to pay honor to the men and women in the military and law enforcement whom have lost their lives was a “Table set for One”.  We positioned the table behind the dance floor so that it would be a prominent display throughout the evening. Another special tribute was a poem the Bride read for her Groom.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

The floral decor, created by Jim White,  was stunning!  Elegant and romantic ~ pinks, blush, white and creams.  One of the focal points of the decor was the Estate Table with two tall arrangements and a floral garden centering the length of the table with lots of candles.

We had a really great group of vendors that went above and beyond extenuating circumstances to ensure a wonderful wedding for this adoring couple.  Unfortunately, professional images were not made available, so I’m sharing my snapshots.

Special thanks to the vendor-team:

Next in the Series….From Planner to MOB!!

Posted in Planning Tips and Information, Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:04 am by JBEvents

Continuing the series “From Planner to MOB” takes us now to what has transpired since the last post.

Quick recap of where we are — Officially engaged, bridal party selected, dress purchased, venue selected, invitations ordered, caterer selected…!

We have also determined the date and confirmed the venue.  The wedding will be in March {yikes less than 2 months}!  As I mentioned in the first post, originally, my daughter, Jessica, wanted to get married in Sarasota, FL at the beach. Aside from spending so much time there growing up, she was really considering that location because the relationship between she and Rocky blossomed there.  However, after much discussion we determined that it would be best to have the wedding here in the Atlanta area, so the search began.  We considered a variety of venues, but in searching their hearts, they truly wanted to choose a location that had meaning for both of them, so the decision was made to have the wedding at our church.  I admire that they came to the conclusion that the wedding should take place in a significant place rather than just a random venue.

southcrest-church-newnan-campus

The groom and groomsmen have selected their tuxes and it seems that the bridesmaids dresses have been decided upon as well.  That was a HUGE decision.

Now from the design perspective, our church doesn’t offer a “beautiful” background like many traditional churches, so my mind is filled with ideas of how to soften the look and make it look more weddingish.

Since the color palette and theme has been selected, I have accumulated a large supply of vases, containers as well as other decor items.  It’s been like a treasure hunt and it’s interesting where you can find perfect pieces!  I am so excited to pull it all together and then to see the final product.  There are some DIY projects that we will be working on to create just the look we want, so I’m sure that will provide a few fun stories to share.  :o)

Sneak Peek at a SMALL sampling of some of my “treasures”

Vendor selection is well underway and we are super excited about the Team that will be executing our vision!! Keep following as I will be doing a vendor Spotlight on each of them.

Jessica & Rocky are currently working on vows and music selections…..which has turned into a massive undertaking  – but they are making good progress.

They had their Engagement Photos (Michelle Pratt of Elephants and Apples) which turned out great.

The Bridal Shower will be held later this month hosted by her Matron and Maid of Honor.  We are both so excited for that celebration. The invitations are adorable.

Tune in next time for an update on our next steps and a recap of the shower and other details.

Meggie & Matt Get Married!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:05 am by JBEvents

A lovely day in a picturesque location was the perfect setting for Meggie & Matt to exchange vows in front of their family and friends.

romine_wedding_-159

The vision for the ceremony was to feel like you were in the woods.   Varying sizes of tree trunks were brought in to create an altar which was then accented with Lanterns and flowers.  Gracing the aisle were wood slices adorned with vases of white flowers with just a touch of soft pink flowers. With the surrounding trees and grassy knolls, the setting was magical.

A close friend of the couple designed and created other original items for the wedding.  One of the featured designs was a large, free-standing wooden sign crafted with an aluminum center held the table assignments for the reception.  The name of the couple was burned into the bottom for a lasting memory of their special day.

There were also wooden signs created for the Bar and the Menu for the evening.

romine_wedding_-213romine_wedding_-212

The reception decor inside the ballroom was a classic and elegant look with a mixture of low and high centerpieces creating visual interest and beauty.  A long Estate Table provided seating for the couple and their wedding party and was a focal point of the room.

Guests were highly entertained by a special toast from the Bride’s father — he welcomed Matt into the family providing a variety of props including a steer harness and branding iron.  The story that he gave during the toast had everyone in hysterics.

We wish Meggie & Matt a lifetime of happiness!!

We were pleased to be a part of this couple’s wedding and enjoyed working with the other vendors involved to create another flawless event!

Ashley & David’s wedding at Callaway Gardens

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:51 am by JBEvents

Raindrops didn’t dampen the celebration for Ashley & David, because their love was shining bright!

The ladies began their morning with an amazing hair-stylist, Katie Hudson who created lovely styles for each of the girls.

Jessica Williams was on hand to capture the love and beauty of the day.  We enjoyed working with her and she provided the beautiful photos you see below.

Callaway Gardens provides a lovely backdrop for wedding celebrations.  The Ida Cason Chapel has been a favorite place of mine since I was a little girl and would visit with my family.  The chapel has a gorgeous stained-glass window that is the focal point for the couple’s vow exchange.

The reception was held at The Lodge and Spa by Marriott at Callaway Gardens.

The color palette for the wedding were the colors of a peacock.  The bridesmaids each had a different color sash for their champagne chiffon dress to coordinate with the theme. The guest tables napkins and chair ties alternated with deep blue, purple and turquoise, creating visual interest and a very elegant look.  Each placesetting was adorned with a box of Godiva chocolates.  Flowers by Freddie provided the floral decor.

In addition to the wedding and Groom’s cake, a full dessert buffet was offered complete with a chef-attended Banana’s Foster station.  If you have a sweet-tooth – this was definitely the place to be.

Ronnie Portwood was the DJ for the evening and he kept the crowd entertained.

As the evening came to a close, the family and friends of the couple bid them farewell through a tunnel of bubbles.

We wish Ashley & David a lifetime of Happiness!!!  Please enjoy the photos below compliments of Jessica Williams Photography.

Wedded Bliss for Sharmeen & John!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:19 pm by JBEvents

What a sweet couple this was!  I had so much fun working with them to create their very special wedding day at Chateau Elan.

Capturing the images and memories of the day was Angie Londono.  I appreciate her sharing the images of the day for us all to enjoy!

Pamela from Design House Weddings created the lovely florals for the day.  The bouquets were just perfect and the ceremony stage was magical.  The ballroom had twinkling lights and a chandelier hung over the dance floor adding to the beauty of the decor. The sweetheart table was accented with soft draping behind the couple, a beautiful ribbon rose linen on the table and candles on the floor in front of the table creating a very romantic ambiance.

Ceremony music was provided by Antonio Allen on sax.  He was amazing and so very talented!  Everyone was mesmerized with his performance.  Even other hotel guests stopped to listen to him as the sound carried through the Atrium. He provided just the atmosphere the couple desired for this special occasion.

Rhodes Bakery provided the the wedding and groom’s cakes.  Since John is a HUGE Knicks fan, Sharmeen surprised him with his favorite team logo on the Groom’s cake.  He was indeed surprised and super excited.

The groom’s father performed a special song for the couple during the reception which was such a special touch.

DJ Louie & DJ Felipe kept the crowd entertained throughout the evening.  Guests had so much fun out on the dance floor.

As guests departed, they were treated to a wonderful favor bag with a poem attached and then filled with spiced cider, chocolates and a bookmark commemorating the special occasion.

Take a look at the images below to see how beautiful this wedding was and join me in wishing Sharmeen and John a lifetime of happiness!!!

Beautiful wedding of Corey & Jeff!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:39 pm by JBEvents

It was such a pleasure working with this couple to plan their wedding.  Everything turned out so beautifully thanks to my vendor partners.

Villa Christina/Hyatt at Perimeter Summit was the venue.  An outside wedding ceremony took place under the pavilion.  Even with a less than desirable weather forecast for the day resulting in strong winds that almost took out some of the decor, we were able to reset and during a few moments of calm, have the ceremony as planned.

Monique from Blossoms Atlanta provided the decor and it was stunning!  The bright color palette was refreshing and went perfectly with the garden atmosphere.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed themselves during cocktail hour on the Terrace before being invited to the Ballroom where they entered a gorgeous set-up.  Luscious linens from I Do Linens graced the tables while again the floral decor created a visual appeal with the bright colors.  The couple wanted guests to enjoy the party and not feel like they had to remain at their tables throughout the reception, so we set up a lounge area that was decorated with personal pillows indicating their college team, professional sports teams and their own personalized pillows that will be used in their home. Collection Event Rentals provided the linen colored sofas and chairs along with a wood coffee table that we adorned with photos of the couple.

Speaking of college, Mark Lotti of Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes created an amazing replica of the Ohio State stadium which was provided as the Groom’s cake.  It was a HUGE HIT!  He also designed the wedding cake that took the Bride’s breath away!

I always advise my clients to brand (personalize) their event as that is what truly makes it unique.  Corey & Jeff did just that.  The tables were named after some of their favorite restaurants and on the table sign, the story of that particular restaurant was provided.  Guests enjoyed visiting the other tables to read a little more about the couple. This truly provided a unique touch!

EastCoast Entertainment provided the DJ services of Josh Bagley.  He did a wonderful job of keeping guests entertained and on the dance floor.

Who doesn’t love a PhotoBooth – well the guests at this wedding sure did!  ShutterBooth Atlanta provided their open booth and we selected the silver glitz backdrop to go along with the wedding decor.  Everyone had such a great time posing for the photos.

A delicious late night snack was offered to guests so that they could replenish their energy after all of the partying. Burgers fries and onion rings were a hit!

As a send off for the couple, guests lined up waving ribbon wands to wish the couple farewell. It was a beautiful wedding and guests were overheard commenting that it was the best party they have ever been to!

It was such a pleasure working with this couple!!  We wish Corey & Jeff a lifetime of Happiness!!!
