Once Upon a Time…The Fairytale of Jenny & Ben

It was such a magical wedding weekend for Jenny & Ben!  Short back story – they are avid Disney fans and became engaged at Disney World in front of the castle.  Ben works as a writer in the film industry in L.A. and they are both very much into “geeky” things.  The hashtag for the wedding was a nod to one of their favorite trilogy’s, “The Lord of the Rings” as well as a play on the groom’s last name – #FellowshipoftheStrings!

On the morning of the wedding, the ladies had a Disney themed Bridal Brunch.  Musicians welcomed the guests with strains of Disney songs.  Guests were given Mouse Ears as they entered with a special pair of a sparkly Bride ears for the Guest of Honor.  The decor around the room and on the tables was adorable Disney themed items including letters for the Bride’s new last name. 

While the ladies were brunching, the guys were lunching.  The guys had their gathering at Paddy’s Pub right onsite.  Good food and laughter (and a beverage or two) was abundant as all the special men in Ben’s life surrounded him on his wedding day.

When the ladies finished their brunch, they retreated to a private room to begin their hair and make-up appointments, provided by Brushworx On Location Hair and Make-up.  These ladies had so much fun and were so relaxed, which is exactly our goal. Of course, they all looked beautiful!  

There was one very special addition to the wedding gown.  Sewn into the dress, right where it would rest upon her heart, was a small, heart-shaped portion from the Bride’s favorite baby blankie.  I love details like this!!

Brenda of Brenda Upton Photography was onsite capturing all of the memories of the day.  Brenda had a vision in mind and wanted to make sure not to miss the opportunity of some amazing sunset photos.  She took the couple out through the vineyard, across a field and up a hill to an old tree that provided a view of the sun setting with mountains in the background.  During the trek with the couple her mantra was “follow the light”.  The result was a series of photos that are some of my favorites ever!!! {See photos in collage at bottom}.  Special thanks to Brenda for providing the beautiful images for this post.

The couple shared a First Look in the ceremony area and watching the look on their faces as they saw each other for the first time was magical.

Edge Design Group created the stunning decor.  The Chuppah was dreamy, with soft flowing fabrics and magnificent floral arrangements.  They had a Wine Box unity ceremony.  Personal letters from the bride and groom were placed inside a wooden box with a bottle of their favorite wine.  During the ceremony, they sealed the box and they won’t open it until their 1st Anniversary.

For Guest Registration, there were two antique typewriters available so guests could type a message to the couple.  There was also a custom wood puzzle made which guests would select a piece to sign a note and then place the piece on the display to put the puzzle together.

In keeping with the winery location, the mother hand-made a set of wine charms for each guest.  The charms had beads in the color of the wedding as well as a crab and a peach giving nod to the hometown states the couple’s families are from, Maryland and Georgia.

The ballroom was gorgeous!  Edge Design Group created a romantic and elegant setting.  The tables were draped with lovely champagne satin linens while the sweetheart table had an exquisite beaded overlay on top of the champagne.  The couple’s table was then adorned with a lush floral piece and a variety of candles providing a glowing sparkle. Throughout the rest of the room, there were combination of tall arrangements as well as low arrangements with varying heights of candles creating a romantic glow in the room. Softening the look of the wall behind the band were soft, flowing blush drapery creating a beautiful backdrop.

The cake table had a navy sequin linen that added to the presentation of the dramatic cake – created by a family friend for the couple.

Guests were entertained all evening by the sounds of U.S. Beat with their always amazing performance.

This wedding  was fun from beginning to end and when it was time for the party to end, guests were begging for more.

The couple departed through a ribbon fanfare to begin their new life together.

We wish Jenny & Ben a lifetime of Happiness of their own fairy tale.

Where Do I Begin…The process of Creating an Event

Color Palette

As a Planner, many of my clients come to me asking “where do I begin on selecting my wedding theme?” and it is one of the many fascinating and enjoyable tasks of my job.  In order to come up with the wedding vision/theme, I ask a series of questions to get to know more about my client and things that they have an affinity for.  Sometimes, clients may have a specific color or palette that they like, so I would then take those colors and come up with various ideas and options for how they can be utilized.  There have been times when a client didn’t even have a color preference, so part of the design consultation involves determining colors that the client likes ~ maybe a favorite color or colors that evoke a special feeling.  In addition to determining the color palette, we also must determine the style preference.  In most cases, a color palette can be used for any style of wedding (Classic, elegant, modern, vintage or rustic) so having a client look through images can be helpful for them to determine their preferred style. {You can visit my Pinterest Board for a variety of Wedding Styles ~ https://www.pinterest.com/jbevents/wedding-styles/

Once a color palette and style have been selected, then pulling together ideas that fit within the theme is the next step.  One thing that I impress upon my clients is to be unique, and brand their event with their own personal style.  Even when looking at images of aspects they like, I always work with designers to not just re-create a specific design, but to create something new and unique to each client.  It’s important to work with professional designers that are creative in their approach to develop decor design instead of taking their last creation and using that design again or copying someone else. This assures that every clients event is one-of-a-kind.

Creating a vision board is a valuable tool that helps clients hone in on their wedding style.  I encourage my clients to use the board as an inspiration which allows us to continue to add ideas throughout the planning process.  Once decisions are made as to the specific elements for the client, a tactile board can be created to include swatches of fabric. sketches of designs and samples of the stationery suite to see how everything will look together.  Seeing how everything fits together is an exciting process.
