Meghan and Matt’s Spectacular Day!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 7:25 am by JBEvents

I am so thankful that I have been blessed with some of the greatest clients around.  In the list of great clients, Meghan and Matt are right at the top!

This adorable couple has a very busy life and they realized that they needed help with putting their wedding plans together and I was honored to be their Planner. Special thanks go to David Clarke of Chelsea Floral Designs for the referral!!

The bride’s style was classic, traditional and elegant.  Her color palette was Navy and Peach.  Her dress , from Winnie Couture, was a beautiful lace, fit and flare dress with cap sleeves, v-neck and sheer back.  Meghan looked stunning.

The bridesmaids wore elegant navy dresses with a one-shoulder strap.

The Groom and his groomsmen looked dapper in blue tuxedos with a slight difference of the groom’s being a deep navy while the guys were a brighter shade of blue.

The ceremony was held at Redeemer Lutheran church while the reception was held at the Georgian Terrace Hotel.

Hair and Make-up for the ladies was provided by The Moore Agency.  They all looked so pretty.

A very touching moment was when the Father of the Bride saw his daughter for the first time.  She presented him with a hand-embroidered handkerchief that I’m sure will be a keepsake forever!

Chelsea Floral Designs created the gorgeous floral arrangements.  The bouquets were swoon-worthy.  Megan’s bouquet had a special touch,  part of her mother’s wedding dress was wrapped around the stems.

The amazing Laura Stone captured the day with her talented and artistic eye.  She has such an easy way with clients, that they feel at ease and comfortable, allowing her to capture the beauty and emotion of the day!  Her images will undoubtedly allow the couple, their family and friends to relive the the special day filled with love and joy for years to come.

Guests enjoyed Cocktail Hour in Livingston’s Bar at the Georgian Terrace Hotel, with tasty hors d’oeuvres and refreshing beverages before entering the Grand Ballroom for the dinner and reception.

DJ Eric Anthony was on hand keeping the party going and the dance floor full!

Thank you Meghan and Matt for allowing me the honor and privilege of planning and producing your special day.  I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!!!

Enjoy these images from Laura Stone!

I took a few photos during the day too……the ones of the cake were because of how the ceremonial cutting had a tiny issue.  If you look at the professional photos of the couple cutting the cake, you’ll see they are laughing and then look closely at the Groom holding the plate up and you will see the slice of cake was a bit of a mess.  I had to take a photo of the end result of the cutting.  I LOVE that they had a good time with the messy cutting – which just goes to show what a fun couple they were to work with!!!

A Look Back at the Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding of Annie & Stephen!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:00 pm by JBEvents

Sometimes you reflect back over events that you have produced and just can’t seem to get enough of them.  Such is the case with the wedding of Annie & Stephen earlier this year.  The theme of their wedding was The Great Znoskey – a combination of their names which was a take-off from the movie, The Great Gatsby.  From the Save The Dates all the way through the labels on the Favors, the theme was used.  One of the best ways to make your event unique is to brand it and then carry out the theme so that when your guests see any items relating to the event, they know it’s yours and will associate the branding to all of the memories they take away from the celebration.

The vendors who worked to create this gorgeous wedding were:

Planner:  Janice Blackmon Events

Church:  Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Hair & Make-up:  The Moore Agency

Floral Designer:  Ann Potter

Reception Venue:  The Georgian Terrace Hotel

Photographer:  Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love

Cake:  For Goodness Cakes

Band:  Bogey and The Viceroy

Favors:  The Varsity

Vintage Car:  GAS Motors

I created a slideshow of some of my favorite photos from Our Labor Of Love.   I hope you enjoy the show!!  So, grab a cold beverage and a yummy snack, sit back and enjoy the revisit to The Great Znoskey, also known as the wedding of Annie & Stephen!

Celebrating the Love of Jennifer & Dean!!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:15 am by JBEvents

It was such a pleasure working with Jennifer and Dean to plan their wedding.  Every time I met with the couple, you could easily see the love they have for each other.

We selected The Georgian Terrace as the perfect venue for their Spring wedding.  Since this was going to be an intimate wedding, The Mitchell Ballroom was just the right size.

JWilbur of EventScapes created the beautiful personal florals.  Using a variety of flowers, in peaches, blues, greens and white as well as succulents, the bouquets were elegant and unique.  The attendants selected their own dresses in a neutral {Taupe} palette, and the bouquets just popped when they held them against that neutral backdrop.

Jennifer and Dean both have children from their previous marriages and it was important for them to incorporate the kids into the ceremony so that they realize how important they each are to the couple and that together they are creating a new family unit.  We decided a wonderful way of symbolically showing this new union was a family Sand Ceremony.  Jennifer purchased a set of vessels and had each of their names engraved on their respective vessel.  Each of the four children selected their own sand color while Jennifer and Dean selected colors that were meaningful to them.  At the appropriate point in the ceremony, each child poured their sand into the center vessel with the couple topping it off.  The finished product will serve as a visual reminder of each person’s part within the new family in such a beautiful display.

The couple wanted all of the family and friends to have a fun and enjoyable evening, and since many of their friends would be traveling to the wedding with their families, they decided to offer Child Care for all of the kids.  We utilized the services of Elegant Event Sitters.  Tish and her team did an amazing job.  They brought kid packs that contained age appropriate toys and games as well as an art project.  As a special surprise, a magician performed for the kids.  He did a variety of magic tricks for the kids, with one even being to have a HUGE bunny rabbit dressed as a dragon appear.  I’m not sure who was more excited about the rabbit, the kids or the adults in the room.  Then he had one of the kid’s participate in one of the “tricks”.  He gave the child a large balloon and had him begin to blow it up – but since it was so large, he needed help and so the magician produced an air pump.  Once the balloon was fully inflated, he asked the child if he would like to get inside the balloon.  With an overwhelming affirmative response the process began.  I have to tell you that watching this happen was unreal.  The kids were going crazy with excitement to see their friend inside of the balloon.  Judging from the noise level in the kid’s room, they had a fantastic time.

Upstairs with the adults, Scott Mikell, our DJ, kept the crowd on the dance floor all night long.  Everyone had such a wonderful time!

The bride’s father is quite handy with wood crafts, and so he built a small footrest as well as a slice of wood which were both used for guests to write messages on for the couple.  I know these wood pieces will have a special place in the couples home for many years to come.

Prior to moving to Atlanta, the bride use to work for a professional photography studio, so she had one of her former photographer co-workers come to shoot the wedding.  Leslie was very easy to work with and she had a bag of tricks of her own that she used to capture the attention of the kid’s {and adults} that resulted in some serious bouts of laughter during the photo sessions.

Mark Lotti of Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes created the wedding cake and as always, it was a huge hit.  Guests went back for seconds and would have eaten more had there been any left.

It was such a pleasure working with Jennifer & Dean and we wish them a lifetime of happiness!!

Please enjoy these snapshots that I took during the event.

The Great Znoskey aka Annie & Stephen’s Wedding!!

It was such a pleasure to work with this family and assist with the planning of the 1920’s inspired wedding!  The selection of the venue was important for many reasons, but being able to carry the 20’s theme out with the surroundings led us to one of my favorite hotels, The Georgian Terrace.  With it’s rich history and stunning architecture it was the perfect backdrop for the wedding.

Giving a nod to The Great Gatsby, the couple titled their event The Great Znoskey – which not only set the tone for the theme, but was a cute play on their last names.  The bride even had shirts embroidered with the logo which they wore for many of the pre-wedding festivities as well as during hair and make-up!

Keeping with the 20’s theme, Annie choose a hairstyle that was perfect for the time period as well as her dress.  The Moore Agency provided the Hair and Make-up and did such a wonderful job {as always}.  All of the ladies looked lovely.

Heidi of Our Labor of Love was on hand to capture the amazing images throughout the day.  She was such a pleasure to work with and I think you will agree the images are stunning!!  Her team also provided the Photo Booth {Smile Booth} which was a HUGE hit during the reception.

The ceremony was held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus {formerly Sacred Heart}.  This is such a beautiful church.  The detail inside is so intricate and exquisite.

One of the brides sisters created the Bridal bouquet which was made of vintage brooches and white feathers.  It was fabulous!  Ann Potter created the floral decor for the wedding.  The bridesmaid bouquets were styled with White Anemone’s and white roses and each bouquet had a vintage brooch incorporated into the design.

As the couple exited the church, they were greeted by a vintage car complete with a Rumble seat. The couple climbed aboard and departed for the reception.

Guests arrived at the Georgian Terrace Hotel, and were treated to delicious Hors D’oeuvres and cocktails while the finishing touches were completed on the Ballroom.  The guests were informed of their seating assignments with Escort cards that looked like old shipping labels.  Each card had a vintage styled key attached with a delicate ivory ribbon. The Guest Book was a coffee table book on the Art Deco era – perfect for the theme.

At the appropriate time, Guests were invited into the Grand Ballroom where servers greeted them with flutes of Champagne.  The Father of the Bride welcomed everyone while the Bride and Groom observed the crowd from the Balcony.  At the end of the Father’s welcome, he toasted the newlyweds as guests turned to see them waving from the Balcony ~ with the Groom properly attired in a Top Hat and stole.

A delicious buffet was enjoyed by all in attendance and once the guests were full, they took to the dance floor and danced the night away to the  music of  Bogey and The Viceroy’s.  The band was excellent and the guests kept the dance floor full all night long.

The beautiful cake was provided by For Goodness Cakes.  The designs decorating the tiers were a continuation of the designs used in the stationery suite.

The Smile Booth kept guests entertained by posing with a variety of props – including boas, crowns, Viking helmet, glasses, as well as long strands of beads and pearls, feather hats and other fun items.  Some guests enjoyed the props so much, they kept them on for the rest of the evening.

Annie had a dress change mid-way through the reception.  We snuck her out so that she could change into a true 1920’s Flapper dress.  It was a gorgeous dress, heavily beaded and was perfect to carry through the theme.  She also have a vintage ivory sequined coat she wore when they departed.

After all of the dancing, guests had worked up an appetite and to satisfy that need, they were treated to Hot Dogs and Hamburgers from The Varsity.  What a huge hit!

Katie & Brannon

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:40 am by JBEvents

I know I say this a lot, but this wedding was absolutely amazing!!!!!

I had the pleasure of working with Katie & Brannon from the very beginning of their wedding planning.  I was able to refer them to excellent vendors that would be able to provide and produce the vision for their wedding.

Capturing the images of the day was Angela of Angela Wilson Photography.  She and her team were very detailed in the schedule of photos to be taken throughout the day.  I’m sure you will agree, the images she took which are included below are ahh-may-zing!!

The always wonderful stylists from The Moore Agency provided the make-up for the girls.  A friend of the bride, Christel, provided the hair styles for the wedding party.

The venue was the beautiful historic hotel, The Georgian Terrace

The ceremony was held in the Piedmont Ballroom.  A custom aisle runner that was midnight blue with platinum was produced to match Katie’s color scheme.  JWilbur of EventScapes, created the most gorgeous arbor where the ceremony took place.  White sheer fabrics as well as the midnight blue/platinum fabric covered the frame of the arbor softening the look while clusters of flowers were attached to the corners and in the center.  Two large and lush arrangements on pedestals flanked the ceremony area.

One of my favorite string ensembles provided the ceremony and Cocktail Hour music, Amati Chamber Ensemble.  This group, led by Sarah Paul, is comprised of extremely talented musicians who play a variety of music genres.  They are top-notch professionals on many levels.

The officiant, Sheila Preacher, is the Godmother of the Bride and certainly provided a very personal and touching ceremony.  The couple wrote their own vows and I have to say – they were so touching.

With a rather large guest list, we knew from the beginning that the set-up of the Ballroom would require some creativity.  Instead of planning on having a seat for every guest, we decided to have a “space” for every guest.  Various sized tables were placed inside the ballroom including tables to accommodate up to 12 guests as well as high-boy tables allowing for guests to prop while eating. JWilbur created several varieties of centerpieces ~ each of which were beautiful.  There were lush full centerpieces on some tables while others were adorned with short, square vases containing blue hydrangea.   Crystal “bling” was a common element included in the arrangements. The room was treated to uplights, provided by PPi, which gave a warm glow and added to the ambiance.

Classic Tents provided a tent on the terrace which provided additional seating for guests.  It had clear walls on the street side allowing the view of the night sky to still be seen.

Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes provided the wedding cake.  Not only was it beautiful, but it was delicious.  The design of the cake was fashioned after the lace on Katie’s dress and had a monogram on the center layer.  The parents of the bride made a trip to Ireland a few months before the wedding and while there purchased a Crystal bride and groom cake topper directly from Waterford Crystal.

Atlanta Showstoppers provided the entertainment for the evening.  What a fabulous show they put on.  The guests were on the dance floor all night having a blast.

Guests were treated to M&M’s in small jars as their favor.

The couple departed through a Sparkler fanfare to their awaiting Horse and Carriage from Nottingham Shire Carriage for Hire.  As they pulled away their guests cheered and passersby honked all wishing the Happy Couple congratulations.

We were so pleased to have worked with the couple and the bride’s parents!  We wish them a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Special thanks to Angela Wilson for providing these images!!!

A Day in the Park for Sara & Evan

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 2:41 pm by JBEvents

As Sara sat on the window ledge of her Bridal Suite at the Georgian Terrace Hotel watching the rain fall in Midtown, she refused to let the weather dampen her spirits but instead focused on the amazing celebration that would be taking place in a few, short hours.  Just like Dick Van Dyke in the Broadway production of Bye, Bye, Birdie ~ we were all singing “Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face”, and they actually did!!!

The Moore Agency provided the hair and make-up services for the bride and as always did a fabulous job.  Sara was stunning!

Frank and Wendy Gibson were the photographers for the day and they certainly had a lot of beauty to work with.  Pre-ceremony photos began at the hotel and with all of the amazing architectural details of this piece of Atlanta History, they were able to capture so many gorgeous images.

The bride selected her bridesmaids gowns from Bella Bridesmaid.  They were a blush chiffon and the fit and style was very elegant.

When the time came to head over to the Church, The Bridal Party boarded a Trolley from Great Knight Tours that took them to the beautiful Peachtree Christian Church.  The Groom and Groomsmen were also taken by Trolley to the church where they had their time with the photographers.

Sara wanted to have the flowers for the bouquets, boutineers and ceremony décor to be more subdued in color and focused more on whites, creams, blush with a touch of purple ~ however, she wanted the colors to be more intense for the reception.  Larry and Greg of Foxgloves and Ivy did an amazing job on the floral décor.  The centerpieces were gorgeous!!!  The Estate Table was especially stunning!  Since we had a very large table to accommodate over 20 guests, that dictated the need for rather extensive décor.  Larry and Greg used large white candelabra and topped them with luscious arrangements and swags of crystals.  They were just perfect and created such a special look and feel for the Estate Table.  The other guest tables had a variety of centerpieces incorporating varying sized candles and floral arrangements.  Larry and Greg truly captured the vision that Sara had for her wedding!!

The linens, which we choose from Chair Covers and Linens were perfect and provided just the “romantic” look and feel we were going for.  As a special touch, the chairs at the Estate Table had brooches attaching the chair ties for extra bling.   During Cocktail Hour, a rose-colored texture linen was used on some of the tables, while an ivory linen was used on others.  The contrast between the two created a lovely setting that was both romantic and elegant.  The guest tables linen was a very soft color that was a mix between ivory and taupe with a pink undertone.

One very creative aspect of the wedding was that Sara provided a Calendar consisting of photos of she and Evan and had each guest find their Birthday and “sign” their greeting on that date.  They will be able to enjoy the calendar during the coming year while remembering those who shared in their joy at the wedding!!

To further enhance the setting, PPi provided lighting in the tent.  The glow created from the uplights added to the romantic feel of the wedding.

The beautiful and delicious wedding cake, which was a variety of Cheesecake flavors from the always amazing Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes was a HUGE hit with the guests!! They loved the cake so much that many went back for seconds (and I’m not naming names, but I saw some even going back for thirds!)

Shimmer Band provided through East Coast Entertainment, were the entertainment for the evening and they kept the crowd on their feet dancing all night long.

Guests had fun taking photos in the Photo Booth provided by ShutterBooth and were able to take photos away with them as a favor while also leaving a copy of the photo with a personal note for the couple.

When the time came for the party to end, guests lined the stairs and held up sparklers as Sara and Evan made their way through to the waiting vintage Rolls Royce from A Lovely View of Heaven that whisked them away to begin their honeymoon!!!

We were so pleased to have worked with this couple and their families to create and produce this gorgeous {and flawless} wedding and we wish a lifetime of happiness to Sara & Evan!!!

A huge THANK YOU to Frank Gibson for sharing the majority of these images with just a few of my snapshots of some of the details!  Please enjoy!
