Fairy Tales Do Come True….for Kellie and James

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful five-year old little girl who asked her mom to pray with her for a man.  Always wanting what was best for her precious little girl, she went in her room and together they prayed that God would send the RIGHT man into her life.

Now while she may have started at a young age to look for her Prince Charming, she trusted in her faith instead of rushing to make a decision that wouldn’t have been the right one.

Many years later, she would meet James, and from early on in the relationship, she just had a feeling that he was THE ONE!

On a trip to South Beach, James popped the question and Kellie said YES!!!

Shortly thereafter we began planning her wedding.  Now, all of my clients are very special to me, but Kellie has a special place in my heart, because she is one of my associates.

She chose as her wedding theme, Rustic Chic.  The venue, Summerour, was just perfect to carry out that theme. Not only the surroundings but the fact that Summerour provides Farm Tables which was exactly what Kellie had wanted to create that warm family atmosphere.  To keep the design of the room  interesting, we mixed round guest tables with the Farm Tables and the overall look was perfect.

This was one of those weddings where DIY meets superb Vendors to incorporate the elements to create her vision.  And what a beautiful vision it was.

One thing you notice immediately upon meeting Kellie besides her beauty is that she is extremely personable and down-to-earth.  She is non-assuming and has a way of just melting your heart while wanting to go out of your way to make her day special. All of the vendors that worked with Kellie wanted to do everything possible to not only provide exceptional service and products, but offered ideas and suggestions so that we were able to maintain her budget.

Once the venue was set, we began work on selecting the Caterer.  With so many excellent options in Atlanta, this was one hard decision, but she decided upon A Divine Event.  She chose a delicious menu beginning with passed Hors D’oeuvres such as Buffalo Chicken Springrolls served in a Shot Glass in Maytag Sauce with a Carrot and Celery and Jalapeno Pimento Cheese atop a cucumber.  Because she wanted guests to feel comfortable and relaxed, she opted for a buffet that consisted of a Baby Bleu Salad, Grilled Asparagus, Melted Cherry tomatoes, Gemelli pasta with wild mushrooms and garlic in truffle oil, Parmesan crusted chicken with artichokes, wild mushrooms in a lemon cream sauce and Bourbon Peppercorn Marinated Flank Steak with Horseradish Dijon and Herbed Mayo.  Guests were indeed delighted with the menu selections.

Steve Moore of The Moore Agency provided the hairstyles for Kellie and her attendants and Scobbie West provided the make-up.  Everyone looked just beautiful.

Kellie selected her Mori Lee designed dress from New Natalies which is where her bridesmaids also selected their dresses.  Kellie’s dress was silk with beading detail at the waist and had a chapel length train.  Kellie’s grandmother made her birdcage veil – which looked stunning on her.  The bridesmaids selected their own style of dress in a silvery blue color.

The men were handsome in their Black tuxes from Savvi.

Paperlily Photography were the photographers for the event.  One of the owners, Brooke Drellos, was actually an attendant in the wedding, so she did put down the camera and assume the role of Bridesmaid after many of the “detail” shots were taken – leaving the rest of the coverage to her partner, Christy and assistant, Shannon.  Of course, the photos you will see below were taken by us.  I hope to post some of the professional photos soon as some of my images don’t properly show the decor and space.

Wade Bailey Designs provided the floral décor, which was stunning.  Kellie loves Red Gerbera Daisy’s, so that was the main focus but to add more texture and interest, succulents and Dusty Miller was used in the bouquets.  Wade worked wonders with Kellie’s vision of the Rustic Chic look.  Kellie purchased some Birch “vases” and at a gathering of her attendants for her DIY projects, they carved a heart with K + J in them.  Adorable!   Among other décor items, Kellie purchased 4 large lanterns which contained 3 varying heights of pillar candles and provided a very interesting look for those tables.  Other tables had various types of centerpieces with the focus on the Red Gerbera daisy’s but with other natural elements mixed in.  The Head Table had a variety of different wine glasses with votive candles as well as large glass cylinder vases with branches along with other floral arrangements with the birch vases.

The ceremony area, which took place at the base of a Grand Staircase, was flanked by 2 tall arrangements and an amazing handcrafted chandelier.  Kellie had the vision of having a chandelier hanging above she and James as they took their vows, and Wade created this chandelier that was unique, rustic and just perfect.

Kellie and James wrote their own vows which were truly from the heart.  Instead of just repeating vows, they spoke of what each meant to the other and how finding each other was meant to be.  This was such a personal and touching part and I dare say there weren’t many dry eyes in the crowd.

The Escort Card table and the Guest Book Table had moss runners down the center with an antique white birdcage for guests to place cards in along with more various wine glasses and glass containers with candles.  The Escort Cards were held by wine corks.

Event Rentals Unlimited provided sheer ivory drapery which separated the ceremony area from the reception area.  The drapery created a nice soft divider during the ceremony and then was tied back to create openings to the dinner area.

During Cocktail Hour out on the stone terrace, guests mingled with hors d’oeuvres and beverages while taking turns playing Corn Hole and Bocce Ball. Kellie’s uncle provided his craftsmanship by supplying a wooden post which he attached old-timey directional signs to indicate the Cocktail Hour location as well as for the Corn Hole and Bocce Ball areas.  He also installed lights over the dance floor – again to fulfill Kellie’s vision.

The couple created a specialty drink for the evening which they called An Atlanta-rita.  It was a huge hit.

Instead of having a traditional wedding cake, Kellie decided to have some of her favorite cupcakes from Lenox Cupcakes.  She selected Peanut Butter Chocolate, Red Velvet and Lemon Drop as the flavors.  YUM! The cake table held photos of the couples parents and grandparents and was such a nice tribute.

The C. Scott Moody band provided the entertainment for the evening.  Guests certainly enjoyed the very specific play-list of the couple and kept the dance floor filled all night.

The Atlanta Trolley provided transportation for the Wedding Party and the guests.  What a fun and unique way that had to travel from their hotel to the venue and back.  At the end of the evening, Kellie and James departed through a sparkler sendoff and then hopped on the Trolley to ride with their guests back to the hotel.  From what I’ve heard, the party kept on going until the wee hours of the night.

Keeping with the wine theme that was prevalent in many of the touches, Kellie and James spent their honeymoon in Napa Valley touring wineries and also taking time to relax with some spa treatments.

The JBEvents team was so pleased to create this fantastic event for our very own Kellie and we wish her and James a lifetime of happiness as they begin their new life together!!!!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Weds

One of Atlanta’s prominent wedding photographers, was the Star in FRONT of the camera on October 3rd for her own wedding.

While it’s always an honor to be hired to be the consultant for any wedding, being hired to be the consultant for an industry professionals wedding is an even higher honor.

The weather was beautiful on this fall day – Sunny with a light breeze.  The day began with the awesome team from The Moore Agency providing hair and make-up services for the wedding party.  Steve Moore and his team created their magic and made the girls all feel like they were playing dress-up.

Once the ladies were finished with their hair and make-up, the bride’s attendants donned their wedding finery.  They wore chocolate-brown dresses that were a jersey fabric that was easy to move around in and looked so nice.  The bride, Shari, made each of her attendants a shrug to wear with the dress in a brown crushed-velvet fabric.  Shari also made the jewelry that her attendants wore for the wedding.  Each was created to portray the personality of the person wearing it.  The color of the jewelry and materials were similar, but each was slightly different.  Each piece was amazing, and the attendants were all so thrilled with their new baubles.

Shari arrived at the Venue, Villa Christina, where she was helped into her dress.  The dress was a strapless mermaid type style.  The bottom and train were made of soft petal layers that gave a dream-like look.

The theme of the wedding décor was Moroccan.  Shari spent months collecting lanterns and other décor items that Edge Design incorporated into the décor.   The finished look was nothing less than stunning.  The colors were chocolate-brown with accents of teal.  Peacock feathers were used in several forms from being in the Bride’s bouquet to some of the centerpieces.  The bridesmaid’s bouquets were wrapped in this beautiful ribbon that also incorporated the color theme of the day but also had sequins for an extra special look.  Maxine and Gabrielle Mecca of Edge Design, spent hours transforming the look of the ballroom and making it feel like you were entering into Marrakech or Casablanca.

The one and only Rev. Rick of All-Faith Weddings performed the ceremony.  He is such a joy to work with and be around.  His presence elicits a feeling of calm and his smile can light up a room.  One of the personal touches that he puts on his ceremonies is that he gives the couple the script of their wedding – so that they have a lasting document of exactly what was said on their wedding day.

Shari and Steven’s “babies”  – their dogs Sophie and Duncan, who are adorable King Charles Spaniels, were the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.  Sophie wore a flower collar while Duncan wore a shirt collar and tie along with cuffs complete with cufflinks on his front paws.  They were led (or in Sophie’s case carried) down the aisle by one of the bridesmaids and groomsmen.  They were so cute and threatened to steal the show until Shari descended down the stairs to meet her mom and walk down the aisle.

Villa Christina has a beautiful lawn and gazebo that is perfect for weddings.  There are also so many picturesque places around the venue that it can be a photographers dream.  With bridges and waterfalls and gardens – the choices are endless for backdrops!

Mark Brickman of The Baker’s Man, created the wedding cake based upon the design that Shari had envisioned.  It was truly one of a kind.  The top of the cake had a replica of a lantern made completely of sugar.  A battery-operated candle was placed inside the sugar lantern so that it glowed.  Mark has recently added a new flavor for his cakes, Key Lime, and that was one of the layers, while white chocolate and with Lemon curd and Mandarin orange filling as well as a chocolate marble cake with Oreo cookie mixed with Swiss vanilla buttercream completed the other layers.

The cake was created based upon the original designs for the Invitations by Deco Marj.  Based on Shari’s thoughts and visions, Marjorie created a unique invitation as well as other paper products used for the wedding.  Her creativity and attention to detail are just a couple of her amazing attributes!

The crowd was kept up on their feet dancing the night away to the tunes that Ted Crowder of Atlanta Bands and Dj’s played.  During the cocktail hour prior to the dinner/reception, he played music that had a Moroccan feel to it so that guests could get into the mood.  But during the reception, popular party music filled the air.

Two good friends of Shari, Chris Williams from New Orleans, and Will Jacks from Mississippi were the photographers for the evening.  These guys were so much fun to work with.  Of course, since Shari is a photographer and is also the Atlanta coordinator for the Pictage Users Group, there definitely was not a shortage of photographers and cameras around at the event.

Guests were treated to a delicious buffet that also contained a few Moroccan dishes.  Then when guests were finished eating, they were invited to enter the “lounge” area where they could recline on overstuffed pillows and a rug that was very reminiscent of entering into the tent of the Arabian nights.  Also in the lounge area was a photo booth complete with props that guests could don to create a fun image for the couple.

Capturing all of the events of the day on video was Jonathan Nye of Evolution Video.  I always love working with Jonathan because he captures the day with a finished product that you can feel the emotions.  Another reason that I enjoy working with Jonathan, is because he is one of those videographers that are not obtrusive but rather just sneaks quietly in the background to capture all of the events of the day – so you never really know he is there – but his video proves that he was certainly right there in the middle of it all.

When the time came for the couple to depart, guests were invited downstairs to create a sparkler fanfare for Shari and Steven.  The couple made their way through the path of guests, stopping momentarily to kiss each other before getting into the vintage Rolls Royce provided by A Lovely View of Heaven, owned and operated by Dana Fuss.

As they departed, the guests were still talking about what an enchanting evening it had been.  The dreams and visions of this bride were definitely fulfilled and we were so pleased to be a part of this very special day.

Congratulations and Happiness always to Shari and Steven!!!!!
