The wedding of Kelly & John is one that was filled with so much beauty.  The couple could be mistaken for models and the added bonus of John being in the military makes for even more gushing.

The setting was Chateau Elan.  Ceremony was held in the Atrium with Reception to follow in the Debussy Ballroom. The grandeur of the venue itself proves a fabulous backdrop, but add to that the creative genius of JWilbur of EventScapes and you have truly a photo-worthy wedding.  Several special touches with the decor were incorporated, such as alphabet decals placed on the mirrors in the pre-function area directing guests to which display they would locate their table assignment card.  JWilbur also created a stunning arch for use at the ceremony.  You can see more of the lovely details in the photos below provided by Kristen Alexander.

One fun detail for the couple was the Groom’s cake – created by Mark Lotti of Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes.  Kelly wanted to surprise John with a nod to her alma mater, Auburn University, so the cake was designed with the decor of his alma mater, Ole Miss, on the outside, but inside the cake, the layers were blue and orange.  Everyone had a chuckle at that little twist.

Guests had a blast on the dance floor boogieing down to the musical stylings of Yacht Rock Schooner.

It was a pleasure working with all of the vendors on this wedding to create the memorable wedding day for our client.

Amanda and Matthew were Married at The Rock!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:00 am by JBEvents

A wonderful group of vendors worked together to create a beautiful wedding for Amanda and Matthew.  The color palette was Navy Blue with an accent of Yellow.  The Bridesmaids wore Navy dresses while the guys wore Khaki suits.  The group looked very attractive!

The ceremony was held at the Lakeside Pavilion at Stone Mountain, with Reception to follow in the Stone Mountain Ballroom of the Marriott Evergreen Conference Center.

Lee Patterson was capturing the images of the day.  We would like to extend our appreciation to him for providing the beautiful images included in this post!

Amadeus String ensemble provided the music for the ceremony, and as always they sounded amazing!

Foxgloves and Ivy created the stunning floral creations for the wedding.  The bouquets were beautiful and the centerpieces for the reception were just gorgeous!

Mark Lotti of Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes created the custom Wedding and Groom’s Cakes which were both a huge hit ~ both visually and taste!

Spectrum Entertainment provided DJ Alex who kept the crowd on their feet dancing all night long.

Amp’d Entertainment provided a Photo Booth where guests had a blast taking fun photos with props all throughout the evening!

The couple departed in a vintage convertible which belongs to a relative!

We enjoyed working with this sweet couple and wish them a lifetime of Happiness!!!!

Amanda and Lorenz selected Chateau Elan as the location for their wedding.  It was the perfect place for all of their guests who traveled from all over to come together and enjoy the weekend festivities!

Amanda and her bridal party began their day receiving hair and make-up services from The Moore Agency.  Everyone looked so beautiful!

The wedding dress which was purchased at Wedding Angels was spectacular with beading, asymmetrical bands, and ruching.  The bridesmaids dresses were Emerald green and purchased at David’s Bridal.

We enjoyed working with Laura Tarquino of Vosamo Photography who captured all of the beauty of the day.  Joseph Leone of Weddings by Joseph provided the videography of the wedding ~ it’s always a pleasure to work with him.

After a delicious dinner, guests were treated to the delicious wedding cake from The Baking Grounds.  And just in case they didn’t have enough sugar from the cake, a Candy Buffet was provided containing some of the couples favorite selections.

Kristin + Bobby = True Love Forever

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:32 am by JBEvents

What a beautiful day for an amazing couple in a fabulous venue for a wedding!  Hopefully you will forgive me for all of the adjectives once you read and see what I’m talking about!

Kristin and Bobby selected Greensboro 1st United Methodist Church to exchange vows and the Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation for the reception.

The church was beautiful and very spacious.  There is a very large Narthex area which has the feel of a mountain lodge – complete with a huge stone fireplace.  The staff (church hostess and sound technician) were so accommodating and helpful.  The brides room was  large and had an area perfect for hair/make-up services ~ which is so rare!

The girls arrived at the church to receive their hair and make-up services provided by Julie and Heidi of Formal Faces.  Everyone looked gorgeous.

The bridesmaids dresses were STUNNING!  They were purchased at Wedding Angels and were tangerine with a floral rosette detail around the hemlines.

Kristin’s dress was incredible.  The beading detail was just beautiful.  The sash that she added was the perfect touch!  She looked gorgeous!!!!

Capturing the images of the day was Adam Linke and Mickie of The Decisive Moment.  We loved working with them!!!  What a treat you are in for…as the images included in this post are from Adam!! {thank you so much for providing the gorgeous images}!!

It was also fun working with Jonathan Nye of Evolution Video again.  He is a great and extremely talented guy.  I’m happy to say he is one of my preferred vendors!!  I know that Kristin and Bobby will be thrilled with the video Jonathan is creating for them.

The Groom’s grandfather presided over the ceremony – making for a truly touching vow exchange.

The Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation is a Private Member’s-Only Club.  The venue sits right on Lake Oconee.  The main level of the venue overlooks the pools which are amazing.  One pool – which is more family friendly has these amazing tubular slides and the other pool is an infinity pool directly overlooking Lake Oconee ~ very serene.  I kept thinking how fun it would be to have a full Wedding Party Trash the attire session by coming down the tube slides…but I digress.

The entry foyer of the Club is in the shape of an octagon – which provides visual interest.  A round residential table in the center of the room held photos of the couple and a lovely towering centerpiece.   Early in the wedding planning process, Kristin purchased favor containers in the shape of shopping bags which were monogrammed with their names and wedding date.  When trying to determine how to provide guests their table assignments, I suggested she use the boxes and place the guests names and table assignments on them, so they become a personalized favor.  The boxes then served two purposes  – Escort Card and Favor.  They were filled with spiced pecans.  The boxes were topped with adorable ribbons in the citrus color theme of the wedding! This was a great way of making double use of an item!

Guests had a BLAST taking turns in the Photo booth provided by Majestic Photo Booth.  The guests were able to have photos to take away with them while another copy of the photos were placed in a scrapbook for the couple.  Guests wrote messages in the scrapbook which I’m sure will be entertaining to look back over in the years ahead.

The couple also had a booked filled with their engagement photos that guests wrote sweet messages in.  The photo books are such a wonderful way to share the engagement photos the couples have taken while also serving as a very special keepsake with the messages from those attending the celebration.

One other method of guests providing well wishes, encouragement, and words of guidance were note cards which were in envelopes that had been decorated to include a specific Anniversary year when the couple should open the note.  What a wonderful way of providing a remembrance of those who celebrated your wedding day by reading their messages years later.  I have to wonder if Kristin and Bobby will actually wait the length of time indicated on each envelope or if they will “cheat” and open them all at once. I think if it were me – cheating would be involved!  🙂

Rhythm Nation from East Coast Entertainment, provided the high-energy entertainment for the evening.  Guests were having a great time dancing to the tunes!  It is always a pleasure to work with this group.  They are very talented as well as being easy to work with.

Le Petit Jardin  provided florals for the wedding.  Kristin wanted a somewhat rustic chic look to the decor.  Debbie used a variety of flowers in the decor, but Sunflowers were prevalent. Lanterns and hurricane vases were utilized throughout the decor. Glass spheres were attached to the chandeliers which hung down over the dance floor area.  They sparkled as the lights danced off them providing a magical look.

The wedding and groom’s cakes were provided by Cake Design by Debra.  The groom works for a brick company and so his Groom’s cake gave homage to his favorite sports teams as well as his occupation. The wedding cake mimicked  the bride’s dress with lace details covering the the top and sides with an accent bow.

A late night snack of Banana Pudding was offered to the guests in keeping with a southern touch. Judging from how quickly they disappeared, I would say they were delicious!

When it was time for the party to end, guests donned flower leis and had finger streamers to fling as the couple made their way to the waiting Horse and Carriage.  This was a fitting fanfare since the couple spent their honeymoon in Hawaii!

It was such a pleasure working with this couple and we wish them a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Spring wedding of Lynn & Matt

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:17 am by JBEvents

The Spring wedding of Lynn & Matt took place at The Pavilion at Lake Rabun.  Lynn and her Maid of Honor created the design concept for the wedding and had many DIY touches throughout.  Securing professional vendors for the major components of the wedding made for a very successful melding of DIY and professionally prepared products.

Since this was basically a “destination” wedding, guests were able to enjoy the weekend in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Rabun.

The couple selected their own Ceremony and Cocktail Hour music and played it via iPod.  However, for the dinner and dancing, Men in Blues provided the entertainment and kept the crowd on the dance floor.

The wedding cake was provided by Highland Bakery

Florals were provided by Mark Fitchpatrick.

Thank you to the JBEvents Team – led by Allison who was pulling double duty as both coordinator and guest.

Enjoy these images as we wish Lynn and Matt a lifetime of happiness!!!!

Sunset Wedding in Sarasota for Bianca & Trent

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 1:32 pm by JBEvents

What a gorgeous day we had for an outdoor wedding in Sarasota.  The temps were in the 70’s and it was December 30th!!

Bianca began her day getting her hair styled for her wedding.  Once she was coiffed, she made her way to the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel where she met up with her bridesmaids and slipped into her gorgeous dress.

Capturing the images of the day was Jessica Kurant of JVK Photography.  During my research and search for a photographer, I met Jessica.  She is a graduate of Ringling School College of Art and Design.   After communicating with her, it was easy to see that she would do a fantastic job of photographing this wedding!! And she certainly did not disappoint.

Bianca and Trent decided to have a “First Look” photo and chose to meet at the “Unconditional Surrender” statue located at the Marina Jack bayfront.  Trent arrived and my associate met up with him so that she and the photographer could place a blindfold over his eyes.  Minutes later, Bianca arrived and walked up to Trent and removed the blindfold.  After seeing his beautiful bride for the first time, they posed for several photos, with one being to mimic the statue.

After spending a few minutes with the bride and groom, the groom left and headed to the venue, while the bride, her bridal party and family stayed at the Marina for more photos.

The venue for the wedding was the Sarasota Outboard Club.  This is one of those places that you treat as a blank slate and let your visions and creativity take over.  The groom’s mother spearheaded getting a small army of folks to assist in hanging twinkle lights, moving furniture, hanging chinese lanterns among many other details.  But all of this hard-work paid off with a look that was magical.

The  ceremony took place on the lawn alongside the bay with contemporary musical selections provided by the DJ, Jacob of Music on the Move DJ’s as the sun was setting.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were treated to beverages and hors d’oeuvres while the wedding party took advantage of the stunning waterfront views for more photos.

Nellie’s Deli Catering provided the delicious food for the evening as well as the table decor. I have to compliment this catering company as being so easy to work with.  The staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and flexible – which made for a very pleasant planning experience.

Instead of using typical floral centerpieces, we opted for a tablescape of floating candles in a variety of  glass cylinders in varying sizes.  Beautiful sea glass was placed in the bottom of the cylinders and placed on the navy linens gave the appearance of being under the sea.  It also gave a nod to the Groom’s current station in the U.S. Navy.

After the cake cutting and toasts, guests were invited back outside where the party took place.  The bride and groom had their first dance to Tony Bennett’s “The Way You Look Tonight”.  The bride then had a heartwarming dance with her dad to “I Loved You First” by Heartland and then taking the dance floor was the Groom and his mother.  We had all been looking forward to this dance and with a last-minute change of songs – which was a surprise to the groom’s mom, they took to the floor with the Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Dance Contest song, “You Can Never Tell” by Chuck Berry from the film Pulp Fiction. This truly was a huge hit and definitely got the party started!!!

This wedding was definitely a celebration and the guests had a great time partying the night away.

The couple departed into their awaiting limo provided by SRQ Services through a throng of guests blowing bubbles to wish them well.  As they left, guests were overheard commenting that this was the best wedding they had attended.  Those are always words that we like to hear.

As we leave you with a few more images from the day, we want to wish Bianca & Trent a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Beach Weddings

Posted in Other Events, Planning Tips and Information, Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:29 am by JBEvents

For those of you that know me, it comes as no surprise that my favorite place to be is the beach.  With that in mind, there are so many fantastic ideas for beach weddings.  Whether you want a more formal wedding or the most casual, there are options to fit your style.  There are so many locations to select from – some of which are all-inclusive resorts, while others are just beautiful beaches in popular vacation spots. Each location does have different rules and regulations on events, however, I can assist with coordinating all of the details so that your beach wedding will be stress free and flawless.

There is something about a wedding taking place at the beach – whether you choose sunrise or sunset as the appointed time, the beauty of the sand and water creates a stunning backdrop.

Of course, you must keep in mind that planning a beach wedding does have some specific areas of consideration, mainly weather!  Especially if you are planning a Florida beach wedding, you need to be aware that afternoon/evening pop-up showers are a very common occurrence – more so in the summer months than other times of the year.  Many times, these showers are short-lived, but can make a difference in the timeframe of the wedding.

Some couples choose to have more of a “gathering” of family and friends on the beach to observe the vows while others want the complete setting of the ceremony.  For a “gathering”, typically no seats are provided (unless there are circumstances for special guests requiring a seat).  Guests arrive at the appointed time and are usually greeted by either a family friend or other selected person.  When it is time for the ceremony, the guests are directed to the location of the ceremony.  Once in place, the wedding party emerges and takes their place.  Some couples will have the traditional music played either by live musicians or via a sound system – while others choose to not have any music.  The guests gather around the couple surrounding them in a circle of love and support and watch while the couple recites their vows.  In this type of ceremony, usually at the conclusion, the guests will congratulate the couple right on the spot.  Of course, many couples do choose to have the traditional recession of the bride and groom and wedding party, if applicable, and then return to the ceremony area for photos.

For the more traditional ceremony setting, chairs are set-up for the guests and music is provided.  The wedding party and bride and groom would process in just as would be a normal ceremony.

Regarding appropriate wedding attire, the options are wide-opened, however, keep in mind that if the wedding will take place on the beach, a long train on the bride’s dress is not necessarily appropriate.  Usually, most brides select a lighter style of dress with little or no train and some even select one of the stylish short wedding dresses.  For the gentlemen, khaki pants are by far the most popular paired with a crisp white shirt.  Another variation would be white linen trousers with perhaps a blue shirt.  Footwear is another area that should be considered.  Sandals are most appropriate or the guys could even wear deck shoes.  Heels are not recommended as walking in sand is tricky.

The reception for the beach wedding can be varied as well.  Many couples will have a venue selected for their reception close-by – whether a hotel or other venue, while some opt to continue to celebrate at the beach perhaps in a Pavilion or barbecue/picnic area.  (Please check with your specific beach for the guidelines and rules).

The menu for a beach themed reception is also wide open for options.  It of course makes sense to have seafood offered, however, don’t feel limited to only those options.  A specialty cocktail, whether an original creation or a typical tropical concoction, is a wonderful element that will please and refresh your guests.

Many couples will opt for a beach-themed wedding cake, but just as appropriate would be individual desserts or perhaps an Ice Cream or Gelato cart.

Finding an appropriate table for the display of the cake or treats is also important.  I happen to love the driftwood table and think that a cake placed on it would make a huge statement.

There are so many varieties of stationery products appropriate for a beach wedding.  Set the tone with your Save the Dates and Invitations.  If you are having more of a casual type of event, your stationery products should relay that message by their style.

Carrying the beach theme all the way through would also include the Escort cards (for assigned seating receptions), décor, menu cards, music selection, favors as well as fanfare for departure.

It makes sense to incorporate natural elements found at the beach into the décor – whether personally gathered or purchased (be advised some plants and items found at or growing at/on the beach are against the law to pick).  There are so many varieties of shells available that you could select either just one type or use a combination of many.  Driftwood is another common element found at the beach and a wonderful addition to décor.

Depending upon the time of the ceremony, the type of reception could be a morning breakfast or brunch or an evening dinner or even a low-country boil.  The level of formality selected will dictate the types of products (linens, table settings, glassware, etc.) to be used.  Again – please check with your location to determine what the rules are regarding glass, etc., at the beach.  The level of formality will also aid in selecting the menu.  The earlier in the day the event, the food options are of the lighter variety.

If the reception is held at the beach, it’s fun to incorporate typical beach activities such as volleyball, paddle ball, limbo, even horseshoes or corn hole.  For daytime events, providing sunscreen and wet wipes proves to be a nice and needed touch.  And don’t forget about providing flip-flops for your guests.

Favors abound in a beach theme – from shaped candies to beach-themed barware, to beach towels or many other items.

Also in keeping with the beach theme, this is a perfect setting for a Unity Sand Ceremony.  You can have your ring bearer carry an adorable beach themed pillow.  Other accessories that would also be appropriate would be beach themed toasting flutes, cake knife and server and even the guest book. A really cute idea is to place the ceremony program or even the menu in a bottle.  These bottles could also be used as another option for table assignment items.

What better place than to have a little fun with the sand by using it for some clever  photos.  There are vendors that will make a custom “photo” for the couple by having your names, wedding date or other message written in the sand.  Something that I think is so cute is flip-flops that have “Just Married” stenciled on the bottom, so that when you walk on the sand, it leaves the imprint.

There is usually a breeze at the beach – but just to be prepared, why not provide fans to your guests.  You can select natural raffia fans or fans that coordinate with the wedding color palette.

Another thoughtful gesture for guests comfort is to provide umbrellas/parasols.  These too can create fantastic photo opportunities as well as provide protection for those unexpected rain showers.

There are so many amazing ideas for beach weddings beginning with the location, theme, and décor.  Whether you want to have a close destination or one further away, there is a beach that is just perfect for your wedding.

A hot July day at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation was the setting for what could only be described as an amazing wedding.

One of the things that I love is when my clients take my recommendations on the vendors to use for their event because I know going into the planning and all the way through the production of the event things will go smoothly AND my client will receive excellent customer service as well as superior quality of product from those vendors.  Such is the case with this wedding!

Please grab your favorite beverage, sit back and relax and enjoy the story of the wedding of Amy and Nick!!
