A Scottie and a Yellow Jacket get married!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:00 am by JBEvents

Blending the couples Alma maters resulted in a beautiful wedding for the former Agnes Scott bride, Julianna and Georgia Tech groom, Craig.

The ceremony took place at the Chapel located at Agnes Scott College.  The grounds of the college made for such a lovely backdrop with so many picturesque spots.

Bre Sessions of Scobey Photography captured the images below.  It was such a pleasure working with her.

The color scheme of the wedding was deep purple and green. Tulip Blooming Creations perfectly designed the florals and decor.  The arrangements were truly stunning.

The reception was held at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.  The team there were fantastic to work with and made for a great partnership.

The family is huge Pittsburgh Steelers fans and so each guest was provided a “crying towel” to use in welcoming the new Mr. & Mrs. into the reception.  There was a sea of Yellow and Black.

Keeping the crowd entertained and grooving to the beat was the always amazing The Moxie Band Atlanta.  Rich and the band have an energy that is truly contagious.

Guests were treated to delicious cookies as a reminder of the sweet wedding.

We were pleased to plan and produce this flawless wedding and wish Julianna and Craig a lifetime of happiness.

Steampunk meets Elegance for Denise & Morgan!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:00 am by JBEvents

This wedding was SO MUCH FUN to plan and produce!  It was definitely a blending of styles in order to accommodate the desires of the couple with that of the parents.  Denise and Morgan are huge fans of Sci-Fi and Steampunk.  Since the parents would have many friends in attendance that probably wouldn’t know or understand the symbolism, the request was that we would incorporate touches of the themes paying homage to the couples desires without going overboard. So, the planning began!  With The Retreat at Perimeter Summit selected as the venue, next came the work on the design concept.

Prior to bringing JWilbur of EventScapes on board, I did extensive research on Steampunk wedding elements.  JWilbur and I brainstormed some ideas and he developed an amazing proposal that would incorporate very small touches that the couple would notice without drawing too much attention, such as small gears woven into the bride’s bouquet and the groom’s boutonniere.  The Chuppah was a unique design which used 4 of the family’s Tallitot as well as a gear “chandelier”.

Mark Lotti, Classic Cheesecake and Cakes definitely put on his creative genius hat when he designed the Wedding and Groom’s cakes.  The wedding cake utilized the gear design that was also used on the invitation.  The Groom’s cake, which was the highlight, was a Tardis {from the Dr. Who movies}. The couple LOVED how the cakes turned out.  As was appropriate, the theme from Dr. Who was played as the couple cut the cakes.

Atlanta Beat band kept the crowd entertained and on the dance floor all night long.  They were amazing as always and everyone had such a great time.

Especially entertaining was the couples First Dance.  With the help of dance instructors, Allyssa and Robbie, they had choreographed a dance to the song Season’s of Love from the Broadway Musical, Rent.  It was fantastic!!!!!! Allyssa and Robbie were guests and you could tell from their expressions how proud they were of Denise & Morgan!

We certainly enjoyed working with Laura Tarquino of Vosamo who was capturing all of the special moments of the day, along with our staff videographer.

Everything about this wedding was amazing!!  We wish Denise & Morgan a lifetime of Happiness!!!!!

Rachel & Ari’s Day of Happiness!!

The Happy Couple with the Buckhead Skyline

The Happy Couple with the Buckhead Skyline

If what they say is true, “A Picture is worth a Thousand Words” – then I’ve got thousands and thousands of words for you today!  We were so pleased to assist planning this beautiful wedding by being able to refer some of our favorite vendors who together created a fabulous and stunning wedding.

One of the fun and interesting facts about this couple was how they got engaged.  Ari spent quite a while deciding on the perfect way to pop the question to Rachel, and he determined that he would incorporate a trip to their favorite ice cream shop.  The Huffington Post actually published their story and here is an excerpt:

“While walking to what I thought was going to be a quiet date night dinner, Ari held my hand and started walking towards our favorite neighborhood ice cream shop, Jake’s Ice Cream. I jokingly asked, “Are we going to eat dinner at Jake’s?” Ari replied that Jake’s had my favorite ice cream (salted caramel) in stock but worried they might sell out of the flavor due to a busy weekend ahead. I went along with it because I wasn’t going to argue with eating dessert before dinner.

Upon Ari pointing out that salted caramel was my favorite flavor, the woman behind the counter asked if I wanted to sample a new concoction that Jake’s was debuting in honor of the Inman Park Festival (taking place in our neighborhood over the weekend). I asked what it consisted of and was amazed when she spouted out a list of flavors that I, as a sweet/savory fan, have always talked about and dreamed of: salted caramel ice cream with pretzels, chocolate-covered cookie dough and peanut butter swirl. I tasted it and was instantly in heaven.

The woman said that they weren’t going to formally unveil the flavor’s name until the next day but that since I liked it so much, they’d go ahead and do it now. I looked behind her, and on the chalkboard where Jake’s usually lists their flavors of the day, there was a sheet covering half of the board. She pulled it down, revealing the following: “New Flavor: Rachel, Will You Marry Me?” I immediately let out a huge smile and turned around to find Ari down on one knee. “

After that type of proposal, there was no way that the Ice Cream couldn’t be a part of the wedding day, so guests were treated to small cups of the brand new, custom flavor created just for the couple as a late-night snack!  As a fitting favor, the guests received a Murano Ice Cream Scoop as they left.

She Said YES to more than just the Dress!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:03 pm by JBEvents

What a great couple!  You can’t help but smile when you look at these 2.

The day began with Ryan and Tarra from The Moore Agency providing hair and make-up services for the crew.  As always, they did a wonderful job and had the bridal party looking just beautiful.

Nita had been featured on the TLC show, “Say Yes to the Dress” and I would have to say, she made an excellent selection.  The dress she chose was a Lazaro fit n flare design with a slight sweetheart neckline and asymmetrical ruffles starting just below the hips.  The dress also had a champagne sash with a side-bow.

She wore different accessories for the ceremony and reception – both of which looked fabulous with the dress.  For the ceremony, she wore a three-strand of pearls, while for the reception; she changed to a more modern chunky necklace that paired well for the party.

The bridesmaids wore short eggplant colored dresses by Jim Hjelm.  The bouquets which contained pink peonies really stood out against the dresses. The four young greeters wore hot pink dresses.

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was the site for the traditional Filipino ceremony led by Father Mario Lopez.

The wedding party departed the church after the ceremony in a Trolley and made a few photo stops along the way with one being the Woodruff Arts Center, before arriving at the reception location of The Ritz-Carlton ~ Buckhead.

Capturing the images of the day were Chris and Allie of The Reason photography.

My staff videographer was also capturing the memories of the day and I’m sure the end result will be one that the couple looks back on years from now and will be able to relive the emotions of the day.

As guests arrived at the Ritz-Carlton ~ Buckhead, there were greeted with delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages which included the signature drink of a White Sangria.  A video montage provided entertainment for the guests while they enjoyed Cocktail Hour.

Once guests were invited into the Ballroom, they entered to see yet another vision of beauty.  The 17 tables held two different types of floral centerpieces designed by Flowers From Us.  The tall arrangements consisted of a clear vase with a submerged stem of orchids while a lush arrangement in various shades of pinks, purples and greens with crystal beads draped around graced the top of the vase.  The other tables had a variety of different sized clear vases each with monochromatic stems of flowers for a very interesting display.

The wedding party had a great time as they strutted their stuff while being introduced – but not to be upstaged, the bride and groom entered and proceeded to have their first dance, which they choreographed to the wonderful jazz standard, At Last by Etta James.  The groom had confessed he didn’t sleep the night before because he was worrying about the dance – but judging from the sidelines, I would give them a 10!

DJ Ryan from Spectrum Entertainment kept the crowd entertained throughout the event.  I think that all of the guests were more than ready to begin dancing by the time dinner was complete.  Spectrum also provided the ambient lighting and the gobo that was projected onto the dance floor.

McEntyre’s bakery provided the round 5 tiered cake that was embellished with a French scroll design on each tier while a cluster of peonies graced the top of the cake.

When it came time for toasts, the Best Man, long time friend of the groom and the Maid of Honor, youngest sister of the Bride reveled the crowd with amusing anecdotes.

One of the very fun and popular aspects of the evening was the Photo Booth supplied by the photographers.  The couple provided some of the props which included small chalkboards, fake mustaches, hats, glasses and various other fun items.

Towards the end of the evening, guests were treated to a late night snack of sliders and fries.  It was a total hit!

When it came time for the party to end, guests were invited to wish the couple farewell with a bubble fanfare.  One of the sweetest moments of the day came during the few minutes while the bride and groom were hanging out in the ballroom after the guests had left to get ready for the bubble fanfare, and the DJ started playing a song and the two of them just started dancing.  It was completely unscripted and very touching.

We are so happy to have been a part of this celebration, and making it even more special to us, was this was the second wedding for this family that we had the pleasure of coordinating!!!

Wishing happiness always to Nita and James!!
