Lorianne & Karao’s Gorgeous Fusion Wedding

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:01 pm by JBEvents

I’ve said it many times before, but I’ll say it again….I have the most amazing clients!!! AND, making this wedding even more special, it was a former JBEvents client family!!! Working with this family again was a true honor, and getting to see my former couple and meeting their adorable children was such a highlight. I am indeed lucky to build lasting relationships with such incredible people.

Lorianne & Karao have a love that you can feel when you are around them. Their family and friends also radiate love and good times!

We blended some Kenyan traditions with American, especially southern traditions for the beautiful fusion wedding.

The ladies gathered at a friends home to start the day with their hair and make-up appointments. They enjoyed some delicious nibbles and a mimosa bar. Perfect start to the day!

The bride wore a stunning gown from J. Andrews Bridal. The bridal party each selected their own dresses in jewel tones. The look was perfect. The groom and his guys wore custom made suits in a deep teal color – and they all looked dapper!

A Kenyan tradition is that the mother of the groom and the female family members arrive at the brides home (or in this case the venue) to escort her to the ceremony. The ladies gather and begin singing outside of the home while the bride and her parents remain inside behind the door. At the appropriate time, the door is opened and the bride begins making her way out. The groom’s family continues singing while placing shawls on the ground for the bride to walk upon, so that her feet do not touch the ground. What a beautiful beginning to the celebration.

Karao, the groom, was placed with his back to the bride so he could not see her, but he could hear the singing and the joy of his wife-to-be being serenaded by his mom, sisters and aunts, as she walked towards him. When Lorianne reached Karao, she gently touched his shoulder indicating he could turn around. The emotion of the couple and everyone witnessing this was palpable and I dare say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Seeing this tradition, touched me as it clearly demonstrated the coming together of not just the couple, but of their families. The acceptance and embracing cultural differences simply because of LOVE. That’s what it’s all about – LOVE!

The ceremony, officiated by the bride’s brother, was very personal and unique to the couple. Another perfect aspect of this special day.

As the couple were pronounced married, the music started, “Aye” by Davido, and the couple danced up the aisle. The wedding party followed suit and it was fantastic. It was such a celebratory moment.

Now for the Southern part of the wedding. The bride and her family are HUGE Dawg fans. In fact, we were originally planning on having the couple introduced in for their 1st dance to the Call of the Dawgs. Our plans had to change slightly since the game time wasn’t announced until just less than 2 weeks from the day of the wedding. Instead of it being an evening kick-off as we were hoping, it was instead a 4:00 kick-off. Well, that was the time of the ceremony so unless we wanted the bride to enter to the Call of the Dawgs, we needed to change things up a bit. ūüôā We were already having a large TV at the venue for the game, so we positioned it on the back terrace. Guests were able to watch part of the game during Cocktail Hour, before they were escorted to the tent for dinner. As guests finished their dinner, they made their way back out to the terrace to watch the end of the game. And what an end it was. Georgia had been ahead for the 1st three quarters, but in the 4th quarter, Auburn made 2 touchdowns. It looked like Auburn was going to tie things up, but in the last seconds of the game Georgia defense held them and won the game and clinched the SEC East Division title. Not a bad little wedding gift — thank you UGA! I feel rather certain that the cheers from this Lake Oconee crown could be heard at the game in Auburn!

After the game, the party really got started. The couple shared their 1st dance, the bride and her father danced followed by the groom and his mom. Then during the toasts there was another special Kenyan tradition. The grooms mother presented the bride, her mother and grandmother with lovely, hand-made baskets from Kenya that are used for going to the market. The presentation of this heartfelt gesture was one more example of the love that was present and filling the air at this wedding.

Guests had a great time in the photo booth striking a pose. The couple has a lasting memory of their guests with the memory book created by ShutterBooth, where guests wrote a personal message next to their photo.

In addition to the photo keepsake, guests also were able to take home a Hot Chocolate stick complete with a large marshmallow. A perfect take away on this chilly fall evening.

As with every event, there is a team of vendors working together to ensure the couples desires and vision are carried out. We were happy to partner with these vendors to produce this fabulous and flawless wedding.

Alli & Brett get Handcuffed at their Wedding

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:10 am by JBEvents

As an Event Planner, you are responsible for making sure that everything goes perfectly for your clients, regardless of circumstances that are beyond your control.  This wedding was one of those events where keeping calm was KEY to making sure that the clients were unaware of all that was going behind the scenes and to make sure that the wedding went off as planned!

Let me give you a little background of the wedding day!  The wedding was held on Saturday of Gay Pride Weekend in Atlanta at the main host hotel for the viewing of the parade.  Ahead of the day, we were given a map of the slated road closures.  I made sure to provide the map as well as road closure timing to all vendors involved.  Unfortunately, the map provided was not accurate and additional roads were closed at times ahead of the previously provided scheduled times.  This of course resulted in difficulty for vendors (and even my team) to get to the Hotel timely.  Not to mention, the loading dock is located on a street that is closed for the parade! Situations from one vendor being threatened to be arrested, to two others receiving traffic citations were just a part of the day.  Of course, guests had difficulty getting to the venue as well.

What is important to note is that even with all of the issues of the day, every vendor pulled together to do whatever was necessary to create the perfect wedding for the couple.

The bride had a wonderful time getting out in the parade crowd.  Many of the parade-goers stopped her for a photo-op.  We also ran into a motorcycle officer that allowed the bride to pose with his bike.

The groom, is an Atlanta Police Officer with¬†a great sense of humor so we were able to play around with the whole “law enforcement officer” theme, ¬†The groom’s cake was Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. ¬†The favors were chocolate hand-cuffs. At the end of the ceremony, the couple were hand-cuffed together as a fun surprise for all in attendance. The cake topper was a Police Officer holding his bride. ¬†The table names were of police themed television shows and movies. ¬†The bride is very crafty and created the signs herself.

IMG_2370

I absolutely loved being able to incorporate the things most special to this couple to create a truly unique wedding. ¬†That’s what it is all about!!!

One of the special attributes to pay honor to the men and women in the military and law enforcement whom have lost their lives was a “Table set for One”. ¬†We positioned the table behind the dance floor so that it would be a prominent display throughout the evening. Another special tribute was a poem the Bride read for her Groom. ¬†There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

The floral decor, created by Jim White,  was stunning!  Elegant and romantic ~ pinks, blush, white and creams.  One of the focal points of the decor was the Estate Table with two tall arrangements and a floral garden centering the length of the table with lots of candles.

We had a really great group of vendors that went above and beyond extenuating circumstances to ensure a wonderful wedding for this adoring couple. ¬†Unfortunately, professional images were not made available, so I’m sharing my snapshots.

Special thanks to the vendor-team:

Fall wedding beauty for Shelby & Drew!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:00 am by JBEvents

Fall is such a beautiful time, with colorful leaves, usually crisp temperatures and blue skies.  When you add to that a gorgeous bride and a handsome groom, you have the makings for something spectacular! Such is the case for Shelby & Drew.

View More: http://happyeverythingco.pass.us/peetewdding

With venue, Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club, selected, Shelby begin putting her thoughts into the vision for her wedding day.  She selected The Stables as the ceremony and reception site, which lends itself to a rustic vibe Рbut NOT a mason jar type of vibe, rather an elegant, sophisticated rustic vibe.

She selected some pretty amazing vendors to carry out her vision, such as Christina Robbins (Hair) and McKenzie Mann (Make-up), Happy Everything Company (Photographer), ¬†Low Country Catering, Sweet Creations by Candi Pittman (Cake), John Amoroso (Ceremony and Cocktail Hour Musician), Hip and Hitched (DJ & Sax player), Mary McLeod with Amy Osaba (Florals), Hometown Crew (Videographer) and ShutterBooth (PhotoBooth). ¬†Along with the JBEvents Team, these vendors expertly created and conveyed Shelby’s dream wedding.

There were a couple of adorable features that we really loved.  One was a handmade cross used at the altar.  The other was the oar used for their guest registration.  As I try to impress on all of my clients, be unique, bring your personality out in the wedding Рand this couple truly did.

Take a look at the images below and I think you will agree, this was a gorgeous wedding. ¬†What’s your favorite part? {Thank you to Happy Everything Co. for sharing these images!}

We wish Shelby & Drew a lifetime of happiness!!!  Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day!!

Megan & Zach’s Midtown wedding!

It was such a pleasure to work along side Megan & Zach to plan their wedding. ¬†Making it even more special was that it was my second time working with the groom’s family. ¬†What an honor that is!

Their wedding was just beautiful and every detail was exquisite and perfect!  Bold American Events knocked it out of the park with the designs that truly exceeded the couples expectations.  The look was elegant and lush, with an English Garden feel.  The arch created for the ceremony later doubled as the backdrop for the cake.

The couple exuded love with every look, touch and laugh throughout the day. ¬†You couldn’t help but smile every time you saw them. ¬†

One of the most touching moments was the bride opening the gift from the groom. ¬†Her mother passed away when she was younger, and knowing how important she was to Megan, Zach took some old letters and cards with her handwriting and had a gorgeous necklace made with Megan’s initial in her mothers handwriting. ¬†Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. ¬†That gift just goes to show what a special guy, Zach is.¬†

Venue Spotlight ~ Selby Gardens in Sarasota, Florida

Posted in Other Events, Planning Tips and Information, Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:00 am by JBEvents

When planning a wedding or any social celebration, selecting the venue is key.  We assist our clients in determining the perfect venue for them by asking many questions to include among others, anticipated guest count as well as their vision of the theme and atmosphere. When it comes to weddings and social celebrations in Sarasota, there are so many options of venues available, from luxury hotels to historic homes, art museums, botanical gardens or of course, the beautiful beaches.

One of the gorgeous venues that we love is Selby Gardens.  For historical information on Selby Gardens click here. The stunning beauty of the gardens coupled with the view of Sarasota Bay, creates a magical setting for an unforgettable event.

selby-gardens-signPhoto By Jason Demutiis

Weddings may be held anywhere throughout the Gardens. The most popular locations are the Schimmel Wedding Lawn and Pavilion, the Gazebo, the Banyan Grove, and The Wedding Oak adjacent to the Christy Payne Mansion. Additional areas that lend themselves to nuptial celebrations are the Great Room by the Bay indoors or outdoors at the Christy Payne Mansion.

Renovations have been underway at the Gardens, but are estimated to be complete by the first part of October which will also include an option for wedding party’s to arrive by boat on the south lawn side.¬†

The south lawn includes the Gazebo, Children’s Playground, and cocktail area looking over the bay, as well as a dance floor/seating area. This area can accommodate 250+ for a seated event. ¬†¬†There is not a backup plan on this side when it comes to weather, so usually a tent is booked.¬†

The Great Room by the Bay is smaller, consisting of 3600 square feet, however, for an indoor event it has a lot to offer. There is a large bay view, terrace for band or DJ, and the “wedding oak” which is picturesque for ceremony backdrop.¬†
Contact us to begin planning your event at Selby Gardens or any other venue in the Sarasota/Tampa Bay area.

Beautiful wedding of Corey & Jeff!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:39 pm by JBEvents

It was such a pleasure working with this couple to plan their wedding.  Everything turned out so beautifully thanks to my vendor partners.

Villa Christina/Hyatt at Perimeter Summit was the venue.  An outside wedding ceremony took place under the pavilion.  Even with a less than desirable weather forecast for the day resulting in strong winds that almost took out some of the decor, we were able to reset and during a few moments of calm, have the ceremony as planned.

Monique from Blossoms Atlanta provided the decor and it was stunning!  The bright color palette was refreshing and went perfectly with the garden atmosphere.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed themselves during cocktail hour on the Terrace before being invited to the Ballroom where they entered a gorgeous set-up.  Luscious linens from I Do Linens graced the tables while again the floral decor created a visual appeal with the bright colors.  The couple wanted guests to enjoy the party and not feel like they had to remain at their tables throughout the reception, so we set up a lounge area that was decorated with personal pillows indicating their college team, professional sports teams and their own personalized pillows that will be used in their home. Collection Event Rentals provided the linen colored sofas and chairs along with a wood coffee table that we adorned with photos of the couple.

Speaking of college, Mark Lotti of Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes created an amazing replica of the Ohio State stadium which was provided as the Groom’s cake. ¬†It was a HUGE HIT! ¬†He also designed the wedding cake that took the Bride’s breath away!

I always advise my clients to brand (personalize) their event as that is what truly makes it unique.  Corey & Jeff did just that.  The tables were named after some of their favorite restaurants and on the table sign, the story of that particular restaurant was provided.  Guests enjoyed visiting the other tables to read a little more about the couple. This truly provided a unique touch!

EastCoast Entertainment provided the DJ services of Josh Bagley.  He did a wonderful job of keeping guests entertained and on the dance floor.

Who doesn’t love a PhotoBooth – well the guests at this wedding sure did! ¬†ShutterBooth Atlanta provided their open booth and we selected the silver glitz backdrop to go along with the wedding decor. ¬†Everyone had such a great time posing for the photos.

A delicious late night snack was offered to guests so that they could replenish their energy after all of the partying. Burgers fries and onion rings were a hit!

As a send off for the couple, guests lined up waving ribbon wands to wish the couple farewell. It was a beautiful wedding and guests were overheard commenting that it was the best party they have ever been to!

It was such a pleasure working with this couple!!  We wish Corey & Jeff a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Katie & Brannon

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:40 am by JBEvents

I know I say this a lot, but this wedding was absolutely amazing!!!!!

I had the pleasure of working with Katie & Brannon from the very beginning of their wedding planning.  I was able to refer them to excellent vendors that would be able to provide and produce the vision for their wedding.

Capturing the images of the day was Angela of Angela Wilson Photography.¬† She and her team were very detailed in the schedule of photos to be taken throughout the day.¬† I’m sure you will agree, the images she took which are included below are ahh-may-zing!!

The always wonderful stylists from The Moore Agency provided the make-up for the girls.  A friend of the bride, Christel, provided the hair styles for the wedding party.

The venue was the beautiful historic hotel, The Georgian Terrace!

The ceremony was held in the Piedmont Ballroom.¬†¬†A custom aisle runner that was midnight blue with platinum was¬†produced to match Katie’s color scheme.¬† JWilbur of EventScapes, created the most gorgeous¬†arbor where the ceremony took place.¬† White sheer fabrics as well as the midnight blue/platinum fabric covered the frame of the arbor softening the look while clusters of flowers were attached to the corners and¬†in the center.¬† Two large and lush arrangements on pedestals flanked the ceremony area.¬†

One of my favorite string ensembles provided the ceremony and Cocktail Hour music, Amati Chamber Ensemble.  This group, led by Sarah Paul, is comprised of extremely talented musicians who play a variety of music genres.  They are top-notch professionals on many levels.

The officiant, Sheila Preacher, is the Godmother of the Bride and certainly provided a very personal and touching ceremony.  The couple wrote their own vows and I have to say Рthey were so touching.

With a rather large guest list, we knew from the beginning that the set-up of the Ballroom would require some creativity.¬† Instead of planning on having a seat for every guest, we decided to have a “space” for every guest.¬† Various sized tables were placed inside the ballroom including tables to accommodate up to 12 guests as well as high-boy tables allowing for guests to prop while eating. JWilbur¬†created several varieties of centerpieces ~ each of which were beautiful.¬† There were lush full centerpieces on some tables while others were adorned with short, square vases¬†containing blue hydrangea.¬† ¬†Crystal “bling” was a common element included in the arrangements.¬†The room was treated to uplights, provided by PPi, which gave a warm glow and added to the ambiance.¬†

Classic Tents provided a tent on the terrace which provided additional seating for guests.  It had clear walls on the street side allowing the view of the night sky to still be seen.

Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes provided the wedding cake.¬† Not only was it beautiful, but it was delicious.¬† The design of the cake was fashioned after the lace on Katie’s dress¬†and had a monogram on the center layer.¬† The parents of the bride made a trip to Ireland a few months before the wedding and while there purchased a Crystal bride and groom cake topper directly from Waterford Crystal.

Atlanta Showstoppers provided the entertainment for the evening.  What a fabulous show they put on.  The guests were on the dance floor all night having a blast.

Guests were treated to M&M’s in small jars as their favor.

The couple departed through a Sparkler fanfare to their awaiting Horse and Carriage from Nottingham Shire Carriage for Hire.  As they pulled away their guests cheered and passersby honked all wishing the Happy Couple congratulations.

We were so pleased to have worked with the couple and the bride’s parents!¬† We wish them a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Special thanks to Angela Wilson for providing these images!!!

Love Among the Fishes for Ashley & Daniel

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 11:29 am by JBEvents

What a beautiful venue and setting for the wedding of the adorable couple, Ashley & Daniel!!

The day began with the ladies having hair and make-up services while enjoying a tasty brunch at the W Hotel ~ Downtown.  Once the ladies were all beautified, they loaded up and headed over to the Georgia Aquarium where they got dressed.  The bride wore a gorgeous gown by Augusta Jones, while the bridesmaids wore floor-length black gowns that were very elegant.

The photographer, Robin Nathan, had fun taking photos of both sides of the wedding party using the many different backgrounds found at the Aquarium.

Separate sessions for signing of the Ketubah were held since the couple didn’t want to see each other until the ceremony.¬†

Your Event Solution provided the d√©cor for the wedding.¬† The personal flowers were gorgeous and since the bride didn’t want to use floral d√©cor in the reception – the use of the flowers in the ceremony really made them stand out.¬† The focal point of the ceremony was a stunning Chuppah of branches¬†and twinkle lights.¬† It looked magical!!!

Allegro Strings provided the music for the ceremony and the Cocktail Hour.  As always, they were wonderful.

The reception décor consisted of various crystal décor pieces ~ crystal trees, branches extending out of crystal filled vases and crystal chandeliers.  The bride wanted unique centerpieces without florals, and these crystal pieces provided  just the perfect look.

The ambient lighting was provided through Active Productions.  They did a wonderful job in matching the color scheme desired by the bride and the look in the room was beautiful.

The meal consisted of several courses including a pre-selected choice of entr√©e of filet ¬†or salmon.¬† In true Wolfgang Puck style, the food is prepared fresh and plated up to be served immediately.¬† The servers actually stand in a line ready to whisk the plates away as the Chefs precisely place each food selection on the plate.¬† The final course was¬†a warm chocolate cake which¬†was the dessert course and that was before the Wedding Cake was served.¬† This was definitely a “sweet” wedding!¬† Later in the evening, guests were offered their choice of several varieties of cake flavors from the Wedding Cake¬†provided by Mark Brickman of The Baker’s Man.¬† The couple had bobble-heads made in their likeness which adorned the Cake Table and were a huge hit.¬†

The Atlanta Showstoppers, led by Glenn Carvin, kept the crowd on their feet all night long!!  Their energy was infectious and the guests had such a great time dancing to their music.

As guests were leaving, they were treated to a Candy Bar buffet that we¬†provided.¬† Favorite candy varieties of the couple and their parents were offered.¬† There were Malted Milk Balls, Sour Patch Kids, Jordan Almonds, Skittles, M&M’s, Hershey Kisses, and Gummie Bears.¬† As one of our additional services, we provide the vessels, scoops and custom candy labels.¬† Clients can select the varieties of candy desired, and we will order the appropriate quantities.¬† Guests always love having a Candy buffet and they will leave your wedding with sweet reminders and memories!!!

The couple departed to a waiting limo provided by Atlantic Limousine and still had huge smiles on their face because of the amazing celebration of their new life together!!!!

We were so happy to work with this family in planning this fabulous wedding and were pleased to produce another flawless event!!

We wish a lifetime of Happiness to Ashley and Daniel!!!

A Day in the Park for Sara & Evan

As Sara sat on the window ledge of her Bridal Suite at the Georgian Terrace Hotel watching the rain fall in Midtown, she refused to let the weather dampen her spirits but instead focused on the amazing celebration that would be taking place in a few, short hours.¬† Just like Dick Van Dyke in the Broadway production of Bye, Bye, Birdie ~ we were all singing “Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face”, and they actually did!!!

The Moore Agency provided the hair and make-up services for the bride and as always did a fabulous job.  Sara was stunning!

Frank and Wendy Gibson were the photographers for the day and they certainly had a lot of beauty to work with.  Pre-ceremony photos began at the hotel and with all of the amazing architectural details of this piece of Atlanta History, they were able to capture so many gorgeous images.

The bride selected her bridesmaids gowns from Bella Bridesmaid.  They were a blush chiffon and the fit and style was very elegant.

When the time came to head over to the Church, The Bridal Party boarded a Trolley from Great Knight Tours that took them to the beautiful Peachtree Christian Church.  The Groom and Groomsmen were also taken by Trolley to the church where they had their time with the photographers.

Sara wanted to have the flowers for the bouquets, boutineers and ceremony décor to be more subdued in color and focused more on whites, creams, blush with a touch of purple ~ however, she wanted the colors to be more intense for the reception.  Larry and Greg of Foxgloves and Ivy did an amazing job on the floral décor.  The centerpieces were gorgeous!!!  The Estate Table was especially stunning!  Since we had a very large table to accommodate over 20 guests, that dictated the need for rather extensive décor.  Larry and Greg used large white candelabra and topped them with luscious arrangements and swags of crystals.  They were just perfect and created such a special look and feel for the Estate Table.  The other guest tables had a variety of centerpieces incorporating varying sized candles and floral arrangements.  Larry and Greg truly captured the vision that Sara had for her wedding!!

The linens, which we choose from Chair Covers and Linens were perfect and provided just the “romantic” look and feel we were going for.¬† As a special touch, the chairs at the Estate Table had brooches¬†attaching the chair ties for extra bling.¬†¬†¬†During Cocktail Hour, a rose-colored¬†texture linen was used on some of the tables, while an ivory linen was used on others.¬† The contrast between the two created a lovely setting that was both romantic and elegant.¬† The guest tables¬†linen was a very soft color that was a mix between ivory and taupe with a pink undertone.¬†

One very creative aspect of the wedding was that Sara provided a Calendar consisting of photos of she and Evan and had each guest find their Birthday and “sign” their greeting on that date.¬† They will be able to enjoy the calendar during the coming year while remembering those who shared in their joy at the wedding!!

To further enhance the setting, PPi provided lighting in the tent.  The glow created from the uplights added to the romantic feel of the wedding.

The beautiful and delicious wedding cake, which was a variety of Cheesecake flavors from the always amazing Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes was a HUGE hit with the guests!!¬†They loved the cake so much that many went back for seconds (and I’m not naming names, but I saw some even going back for thirds!)

Shimmer Band provided through East Coast Entertainment, were the entertainment for the evening and they kept the crowd on their feet dancing all night long.

Guests had fun taking photos in the Photo Booth provided by ShutterBooth and were able to take photos away with them as a favor while also leaving a copy of the photo with a personal note for the couple.

When the time came for the party to end, guests lined the stairs and held up sparklers as Sara and Evan made their way through to the waiting vintage Rolls Royce from A Lovely View of Heaven that whisked them away to begin their honeymoon!!!

We were so pleased to have worked with this couple and their families to create and produce this gorgeous {and flawless} wedding and we wish a lifetime of happiness to Sara & Evan!!!

A huge THANK YOU to Frank Gibson for sharing the majority of these images with just a few of my snapshots of some of the details!  Please enjoy!
