Love is Sweet for Erin & Tim

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:30 am by JBEvents

A beautiful, sunny day with mild temperatures set the stage for the wedding of Erin & Tim.

Jenn and her team from Pure provided the Hair and Make-up services for the bridal party for a great start to the day.  The bride and her sisters (who were her attendants) got ready in the family home, which provided such a comfortable setting for the special day.

Paige of Once Like a Spark photography was the photographer.  She began capturing photos of the dress and all accessories at various locations throughout the house, giving some wonderful backdrops for the items that will have meaning for years to come.  Photos of the bride’s family also took place at the home before heading over to the Church.

Also on hand capturing the video images of the day was Jonathan (and Michael) of Evolution Video.  Jonathan is always such a pleasure to work with and his video’s are lasting treasures from the Special Day.  One trait of a videographer that is of extreme importance to me is one that is unobtrusive while expertly capturing the beauty and emotion of the day.  Jonathan always exceeds not only my expectations, but those of my clients as well!!!

Atlantic Limousine provided a limo to transport the bride, her attendants and her parents to the Church, St. John Neumann Catholic Church.  Meanwhile, the Groom, his Groomsmen (his brothers) and his parents arrived at the Church and met up with Paige for their pre-ceremony photos. After the ceremony, the limo took the wedding party to the off-site location for photos before delivering them to the reception venue.

The couple had quite a large group of guests travel from out of town for their wedding.  As a courtesy, they provided a Trolley to shuttle the guests from their hotel to the Church and then back to the hotel where they were transported by the Hotel’s shuttle to the Reception venue, 550 Trackside.

At the end of the ceremony, as the Bride & Groom were ready to make their way back up the aisle, from the back of the church, a bagpiper, played the recessional and postlude which was such a wonderful surprise for the guests.

Once all of the extended family photos were complete, the wedding party headed over to the Historic Square in Lawrenceville for some special photos.

Since the weather was so nice, guests were able to enjoy Cocktail Hour on the Terrace where they were able to mingle, watch trains go by as well as nibble on some yummy Hors D’oeuvres.

The groom built a special “frame” that held the Escort Cards. Each card was attached to the frame by a miniature clothes pin.  It was such a sweet display and guests were very intrigued by the design.

A Bokay by JoAnn provided the florals and the catering.  Each table had a slightly different centerpiece.  Some tables had tall centerpieces while others had low groupings.  The buffet had 3 beautiful arrangements adorning the presentation.

HH Deserts provided the wedding cake.  The five tier cake had a variety of interesting design components.  Three of the tiers had a lace design mimicking the bride’s dress, while one tier had a Monogram.

IMG_3495 IMG_3493 IMG_3508 IMG_3509

The bride prepared a few items {DIY} that added a nice, personal touch to the event.  She purchased four large pillows and had them embossed with the wedding date and their married names.  We placed them on a couple of sofas located in the venue.

IMG_3476 IMG_3484

She also prepared a sign that we hung above the Candy Buffet that said “Love Is Sweet”.  She also created adorable Favor bags which were brown paper bags that she attached a hand-dyed doily and labels on to.  They were perfect for the rustic theme.

A huge hit for the gentlemen was the Cigar Station.  The bride’s father purchased cigars which were placed on a table out on the terrace.

DJ Fernando of Lethal Rhythms provided the entertainment for the evening.  He kept the crowd energized all night long!!!

The evening ended with the couple departing through a Sparkler send-off to their waiting limo which took them to the after party before delivering them to their home where they celebrated their first night as a married couple.

We enjoyed working with these clients and wish Erin & Tim a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Maria & Hiram tie the knot!!!

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:51 pm by JBEvents

Sunny skies were shining down for the wedding of Maria & Hiram, even though the temps were rather chilly for this out-of-door Fall wedding.  There had been so much preparation for this wedding which included the building of a “chapel” at the home of the bride where the ceremony and then later the dinner reception took place.  This wasn’t just a small little building, but rather a fully covered area that was 74 feet long and 24 feet wide.  The ceiling was curved and had skylights which allowed the natural light to filter into the space.  At the far end was a fireplace which we used as the focal point for the ceremony.  Several chandelier were installed and large hanging floral arrangements and sheer drapery hung from the ceiling as well which softened the look.

The Moore Agency provided hair and make-up services at the home of the bride which made for a very comfortable setting for the bridal party to get ready.

The brides dress had a sweetheart neckline and a full skirt covered with soft, flowing “petals”.  The dress was gorgeous and Maria looked stunning in it!!! The bridesmaids wore long, flowing champagne colored dresses that were very flattering and beautiful on each of them.

We were so happy that we had the pleasure of working with Shari of Shari Zellers Photography!!   She is one of our favorite photographers and I can always be assured that she will take amazing photos while adhering to the timeline of the day ~ both of which are important.  Her images are always gorgeous and her creative eye sees things that make the photos unique while remaining timeless!  It’s no wonder that she is an award-winning photographer!!

It was also great to work with Jonathan Nye of Evolution Video again.  I’m sure the video will be a treasured keepsake for many years to come.  I have to brag on Jonathan as well – as he is such a talented guy and always makes clients comfortable which shows in his work.  He is one of those videographers that GETS all of the images and special moments of the day – but he does it in such a way as to not be obtrusive.  There is a reason he is on our preferred vendor list!!

This was one of those events where everything that was needed had to be rented, from the tables and chairs to the china and crystal and even the serving trays and tray-jacks.  There are many rental companies around, but based upon my experience, they are not all created equal.  I can always count on Event Rentals Unlimited to provide excellent customer service as well as quality products.  They didn’t disappoint this time!!

Linens were provided by Chair Covers and Linens.  Kudos go to Ashley Hess who worked with us at the last-minute to secure and arrange for linens for the wedding ~ after several phone calls, emails and careful verification that every table was accounted for – she was able to Rush the order through and have it delivered in the nick of time.  The linens looked beautiful!

Mauricio Velez of DJ Move was the DJ for the wedding.  He provided the ceremony and reception music.  Since both sides of the families were of Hispanic/Latin descent, he emceed in both Spanish and English.  He also played a variety of music to include American tunes as well as popular Spanish music.  Guests had a great time and there was quite a bit of Salsa dancing going on!!!

Cocktail Hour provided two different types of entertainment.  Inside the house, Bob Cardone, pianist, was playing.  He provided beautiful background music that allowed guests to mingle and to partake in the Photo Booth.  While outside in the front of the house, a Mariachi band entertained guests and created a festive  party atmosphere.

Catering and the floral décor was provided by relatives and friends of the family.  The meal consisted of Mexican dishes to include Chicken, Spanish Rice and fresh vegetables, prepared by the mother of the bride with the assistance of some of the relatives.  Judging from the empty plates that were cleared from the tables, I would say the guests truly enjoyed the meal!!!

What would a wedding be without a Wedding Cake?  We didn’t have to answer that question at this wedding.  In fact, we had a Brides cake and a Groom’s cake.  However, it did not stop there, as guests were also treated to a dessert display consisting of Mexican pastries provided by some of the grooms relatives which was a huge hit —- but even that wasn’t the end to the yummy sweets.  A Candy/Dessert buffet was also provided so guests could take sweets home with them to remember the wonderful event.  Now this was not your typical Candy/Dessert buffet – but rather one of homemade treats that were made by one of the bridesmaids.  There were mini Pecan tarts, cake pops, turtles, chocolate covered pretzels, Apple spice muffins, and Buckeyes in addition to regular mass-marketed candy varieties.  Monogrammed boxes in various sizes were provided for guests to make a To-Go box.

Since a catering company was not used, servers and bar-tenders had to be secured.  Black Tie Services was selected to provide the staffing for the event.

It is always recommended for a special event taking place at a personal residence,  to provide portable restrooms for the guests. This is true under many circumstances, and making sure to provide a reputable vendor is important.  Royal Restrooms was the vendor of choice for this wedding.

At the end of the night, the couple departed through Sparklers and entered into the waiting Rolls Royce ~ which whisked them away to begin their life of married bliss.

We were so pleased to work with this couple and family and wish Maria & Hiram a lifetime of Happiness!!!!!

Special thanks to Shari Zellers for sharing her beautiful images which are below (except for the last five which were my snapshots)!!!

Mitzvah & Weddings recap

Posted in Other Events, Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 5:22 pm by JBEvents

What a Busy few weeks we have had!!!  In the past 3 weeks we have produced 5 amazing events!!  I can’t wait to catch you all up on the details of each but just to give you a sneak peek – here are just a few of the highlights!!

Mazel Tov ~ Harris & Sara

A ROCK themed B’nai Mitzvah held at The Tabernacle!!!  What an amazing event this was! Incredible venue, excellent vendors and a family that was so wonderful to work with!! Wilbur of EventScapes created some of the most unique and fabulous decor pieces for this event that I’ve ever seen.  Special features of this Mitzvah included a Karaoke Band surprise performance AND custom created Milk Shake station provided by FLIP Gourmet Burger Boutique.

Amira & Ibe ~ Wedded Bliss

This was truly a gorgeous wedding for a gorgeous couple!  Held at the Ritz-Carlton ~ Downtown with some of the top vendors in the area providing their services!  The décor was jaw-droppingly beautiful ~ thanks to Wilbur of EventScapes!  The always amazing Scott Mikell of Spectrum-Entertainment provided the reception entertainment and kept the crowd on the dance floor with a mix of American tunes as well as Arabic tunes for the couple’s homage.  The cakes from Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes…WOW…truly artistic creations with exquisite detail not to mention fabulous taste!

Ashley & Daniel ~ Married with the Fishes

You can’t help but love a wedding at the Georgia Aquarium!  Ashley & Daniel had a beautiful wedding with the help of Your Event Solutions, who created a one-of-a-kind Chuppah where the vows took place.  Allegro Strings provided the ceremony and Cocktail Hour music while the Atlanta ShowStoppers Band provided the high-energy entertainment keeping the dance floor filled all night long! We provided a Candy Buffet that was a HUGE hit!

Sara & Evan ~ Midtown Atlanta Wedding in Piedmont Park

Peachtree Christian Church was the setting for the vows while The Garden Tent at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park was the reception venue.  The bride had a dream of being a Cinderella bride and she did not disappoint.  We had the pleasure of working with some of our favorite vendors on this wedding as well such as Foxgloves & Ivy, Classic Cheesecakes and Cakes, Chair Covers & Linens and Shimmer the Band.

Intimate Family Gathering ~ Garden Tent

Sometimes, it does happen that things don’t go as planned.  Unfortunately for one of our clients, we had a cancellation of the wedding 48 hours before the big day.  I have to tell you that this was an emotional situation for everyone involved and while this is never the desired outcome, the reason I mention it is because as the Event Consultant, we handle “un-doing” of the plans for the affected families.  Since a cancellation is not planned or anticipated, the clients usually don’t know where to turn and what to do – especially since they are also dealing with all of the emotions involved.  Having the Consultant handle the details of the cancellation and providing the information to all vendors as well as following back up with the clients on any financial issues – at least helps get them through the difficult time.  Although the wedding didn’t take place, we did turn this into a small intimate family dinner and the clients were very pleased with the services provided.

As soon as time allows — a more detailed post for each of these amazing events will be posted.  Until then – I hope you enjoy these snapshots!!

Check back soon!!!

Kristin + Bobby = True Love Forever

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 9:32 am by JBEvents

What a beautiful day for an amazing couple in a fabulous venue for a wedding!  Hopefully you will forgive me for all of the adjectives once you read and see what I’m talking about!

Kristin and Bobby selected Greensboro 1st United Methodist Church to exchange vows and the Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation for the reception.

The church was beautiful and very spacious.  There is a very large Narthex area which has the feel of a mountain lodge – complete with a huge stone fireplace.  The staff (church hostess and sound technician) were so accommodating and helpful.  The brides room was  large and had an area perfect for hair/make-up services ~ which is so rare!

The girls arrived at the church to receive their hair and make-up services provided by Julie and Heidi of Formal Faces.  Everyone looked gorgeous.

The bridesmaids dresses were STUNNING!  They were purchased at Wedding Angels and were tangerine with a floral rosette detail around the hemlines.

Kristin’s dress was incredible.  The beading detail was just beautiful.  The sash that she added was the perfect touch!  She looked gorgeous!!!!

Capturing the images of the day was Adam Linke and Mickie of The Decisive Moment.  We loved working with them!!!  What a treat you are in for…as the images included in this post are from Adam!! {thank you so much for providing the gorgeous images}!!

It was also fun working with Jonathan Nye of Evolution Video again.  He is a great and extremely talented guy.  I’m happy to say he is one of my preferred vendors!!  I know that Kristin and Bobby will be thrilled with the video Jonathan is creating for them.

The Groom’s grandfather presided over the ceremony – making for a truly touching vow exchange.

The Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation is a Private Member’s-Only Club.  The venue sits right on Lake Oconee.  The main level of the venue overlooks the pools which are amazing.  One pool – which is more family friendly has these amazing tubular slides and the other pool is an infinity pool directly overlooking Lake Oconee ~ very serene.  I kept thinking how fun it would be to have a full Wedding Party Trash the attire session by coming down the tube slides…but I digress.

The entry foyer of the Club is in the shape of an octagon – which provides visual interest.  A round residential table in the center of the room held photos of the couple and a lovely towering centerpiece.   Early in the wedding planning process, Kristin purchased favor containers in the shape of shopping bags which were monogrammed with their names and wedding date.  When trying to determine how to provide guests their table assignments, I suggested she use the boxes and place the guests names and table assignments on them, so they become a personalized favor.  The boxes then served two purposes  – Escort Card and Favor.  They were filled with spiced pecans.  The boxes were topped with adorable ribbons in the citrus color theme of the wedding! This was a great way of making double use of an item!

Guests had a BLAST taking turns in the Photo booth provided by Majestic Photo Booth.  The guests were able to have photos to take away with them while another copy of the photos were placed in a scrapbook for the couple.  Guests wrote messages in the scrapbook which I’m sure will be entertaining to look back over in the years ahead.

The couple also had a booked filled with their engagement photos that guests wrote sweet messages in.  The photo books are such a wonderful way to share the engagement photos the couples have taken while also serving as a very special keepsake with the messages from those attending the celebration.

One other method of guests providing well wishes, encouragement, and words of guidance were note cards which were in envelopes that had been decorated to include a specific Anniversary year when the couple should open the note.  What a wonderful way of providing a remembrance of those who celebrated your wedding day by reading their messages years later.  I have to wonder if Kristin and Bobby will actually wait the length of time indicated on each envelope or if they will “cheat” and open them all at once. I think if it were me – cheating would be involved!  🙂

Rhythm Nation from East Coast Entertainment, provided the high-energy entertainment for the evening.  Guests were having a great time dancing to the tunes!  It is always a pleasure to work with this group.  They are very talented as well as being easy to work with.

Le Petit Jardin  provided florals for the wedding.  Kristin wanted a somewhat rustic chic look to the decor.  Debbie used a variety of flowers in the decor, but Sunflowers were prevalent. Lanterns and hurricane vases were utilized throughout the decor. Glass spheres were attached to the chandeliers which hung down over the dance floor area.  They sparkled as the lights danced off them providing a magical look.

The wedding and groom’s cakes were provided by Cake Design by Debra.  The groom works for a brick company and so his Groom’s cake gave homage to his favorite sports teams as well as his occupation. The wedding cake mimicked  the bride’s dress with lace details covering the the top and sides with an accent bow.

A late night snack of Banana Pudding was offered to the guests in keeping with a southern touch. Judging from how quickly they disappeared, I would say they were delicious!

When it was time for the party to end, guests donned flower leis and had finger streamers to fling as the couple made their way to the waiting Horse and Carriage.  This was a fitting fanfare since the couple spent their honeymoon in Hawaii!

It was such a pleasure working with this couple and we wish them a lifetime of Happiness!!!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer Weds

Posted in Weddings tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:35 pm by JBEvents

One of Atlanta’s prominent wedding photographers, was the Star in FRONT of the camera on October 3rd for her own wedding.

While it’s always an honor to be hired to be the consultant for any wedding, being hired to be the consultant for an industry professionals wedding is an even higher honor.

The weather was beautiful on this fall day – Sunny with a light breeze.  The day began with the awesome team from The Moore Agency providing hair and make-up services for the wedding party.  Steve Moore and his team created their magic and made the girls all feel like they were playing dress-up.

Once the ladies were finished with their hair and make-up, the bride’s attendants donned their wedding finery.  They wore chocolate-brown dresses that were a jersey fabric that was easy to move around in and looked so nice.  The bride, Shari, made each of her attendants a shrug to wear with the dress in a brown crushed-velvet fabric.  Shari also made the jewelry that her attendants wore for the wedding.  Each was created to portray the personality of the person wearing it.  The color of the jewelry and materials were similar, but each was slightly different.  Each piece was amazing, and the attendants were all so thrilled with their new baubles.

Shari arrived at the Venue, Villa Christina, where she was helped into her dress.  The dress was a strapless mermaid type style.  The bottom and train were made of soft petal layers that gave a dream-like look.

The theme of the wedding décor was Moroccan.  Shari spent months collecting lanterns and other décor items that Edge Design incorporated into the décor.   The finished look was nothing less than stunning.  The colors were chocolate-brown with accents of teal.  Peacock feathers were used in several forms from being in the Bride’s bouquet to some of the centerpieces.  The bridesmaid’s bouquets were wrapped in this beautiful ribbon that also incorporated the color theme of the day but also had sequins for an extra special look.  Maxine and Gabrielle Mecca of Edge Design, spent hours transforming the look of the ballroom and making it feel like you were entering into Marrakech or Casablanca.

The one and only Rev. Rick of All-Faith Weddings performed the ceremony.  He is such a joy to work with and be around.  His presence elicits a feeling of calm and his smile can light up a room.  One of the personal touches that he puts on his ceremonies is that he gives the couple the script of their wedding – so that they have a lasting document of exactly what was said on their wedding day.

Shari and Steven’s “babies”  – their dogs Sophie and Duncan, who are adorable King Charles Spaniels, were the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.  Sophie wore a flower collar while Duncan wore a shirt collar and tie along with cuffs complete with cufflinks on his front paws.  They were led (or in Sophie’s case carried) down the aisle by one of the bridesmaids and groomsmen.  They were so cute and threatened to steal the show until Shari descended down the stairs to meet her mom and walk down the aisle.

Villa Christina has a beautiful lawn and gazebo that is perfect for weddings.  There are also so many picturesque places around the venue that it can be a photographers dream.  With bridges and waterfalls and gardens – the choices are endless for backdrops!

Mark Brickman of The Baker’s Man, created the wedding cake based upon the design that Shari had envisioned.  It was truly one of a kind.  The top of the cake had a replica of a lantern made completely of sugar.  A battery-operated candle was placed inside the sugar lantern so that it glowed.  Mark has recently added a new flavor for his cakes, Key Lime, and that was one of the layers, while white chocolate and with Lemon curd and Mandarin orange filling as well as a chocolate marble cake with Oreo cookie mixed with Swiss vanilla buttercream completed the other layers.

The cake was created based upon the original designs for the Invitations by Deco Marj.  Based on Shari’s thoughts and visions, Marjorie created a unique invitation as well as other paper products used for the wedding.  Her creativity and attention to detail are just a couple of her amazing attributes!

The crowd was kept up on their feet dancing the night away to the tunes that Ted Crowder of Atlanta Bands and Dj’s played.  During the cocktail hour prior to the dinner/reception, he played music that had a Moroccan feel to it so that guests could get into the mood.  But during the reception, popular party music filled the air.

Two good friends of Shari, Chris Williams from New Orleans, and Will Jacks from Mississippi were the photographers for the evening.  These guys were so much fun to work with.  Of course, since Shari is a photographer and is also the Atlanta coordinator for the Pictage Users Group, there definitely was not a shortage of photographers and cameras around at the event.

Guests were treated to a delicious buffet that also contained a few Moroccan dishes.  Then when guests were finished eating, they were invited to enter the “lounge” area where they could recline on overstuffed pillows and a rug that was very reminiscent of entering into the tent of the Arabian nights.  Also in the lounge area was a photo booth complete with props that guests could don to create a fun image for the couple.

Capturing all of the events of the day on video was Jonathan Nye of Evolution Video.  I always love working with Jonathan because he captures the day with a finished product that you can feel the emotions.  Another reason that I enjoy working with Jonathan, is because he is one of those videographers that are not obtrusive but rather just sneaks quietly in the background to capture all of the events of the day – so you never really know he is there – but his video proves that he was certainly right there in the middle of it all.

When the time came for the couple to depart, guests were invited downstairs to create a sparkler fanfare for Shari and Steven.  The couple made their way through the path of guests, stopping momentarily to kiss each other before getting into the vintage Rolls Royce provided by A Lovely View of Heaven, owned and operated by Dana Fuss.

As they departed, the guests were still talking about what an enchanting evening it had been.  The dreams and visions of this bride were definitely fulfilled and we were so pleased to be a part of this very special day.

Congratulations and Happiness always to Shari and Steven!!!!!
